Lumpini Stadium Bangkok, Thailand
Buakao PorPramuk
Pronounced: Boo uh cow Por Pra muhk (Some of the linguistics we dont have in the English language. Translated this means 'White Lotus').
I had no idea he was going to be here. I had no preparation for this interview. I was going to interview him at another time, but I figured this was going to be as good as it gets, from my limited knowledge of the Thai language. The reason he was here, was because he was going to be given award. The prestigious 'Honorary Jacket of Lumpini Stadium'. I asked him as many questions I could think of, and translated as best I could. It's probably pretty accurate. Buakao gave me as much time as I wanted and helluva nice guy!
You fought 3 times in the tourney. Who was your most difficult opponent?
' John' Wayne Parr
Who do you think won after the 1st three rounds?
Well, it was even wasn’t it? But then we fought 1 more round, and I won it.
Japan’s Kohi was skilled but not skilled enough to beat me. He couldn’t fight me. He didn’t have enough skill to fight me that night. Masato is skilled with his punches and kicks, but not skilled in other areas. He could not clinch with me.
Is there anyone in the K1 you don’t want to fight?
I have no choice. If there is someone who I don’t want to fight, I cannot choose. I must fight who they match me with. I just have to fight.
How old are you and when was your first fight?
I am 22yrs old, and my first fight was when I was 8yrs old.
Where was your first fight?
At home in Surin, Thailand.
Have you ever seen K1 rules fights?
Yes, I watched them on video before the MAX.
When is your next fight?
I don’t yet.
Ok, I'm sure I'll get another chance to speak to Buakao, and then I'll be more prepared with questions. Thanks Khun Buakao for you time!
