ADCC 2005 -
6th Submission Wrestling World Championships
The PYRAMID, Long Beach State Campus, Long Beach, California
Saturday and Sunday, May 28th and 29th, 2005

'The ADCC 2005 will be a historic World Championships for Submission Wrestling' starts spokesperson Miguel Iturrate. 'This is the first year that women will compete, it is the first year that the USA will host the World Championships and it is the first year that the ADCC has agreed to release some of the competitors names in advance. This will generate interest in a new way, and also it will change the dynamics of how some of the athletes compete.'

'Below is the first list of names to be released. This is an amazing list in itself, but it saves some surprises and other confirmations for later on as well. There will be a a lot of themes and story lines at the event, and one of those is the theme of 'Returning Champions', as former ADCC World Champions return. Perhaps the two most interesting one's revealed here are Brazilians, as Marcio Feitosa, a champion in the rugged 66-76 KG class will drop to under 66 KG and challenge Leo Vieira, among others. He is immediately a contender at that weight. Another fascinating comeback is in the 66-76 kg class, where Jean Jacques Machado returns. JJ Machado is perhaps the most technical athlete ever at ADCC, based on his championship run of 1999 and his 2001 Absolute appearance, and he must be considered among the favorites.'

'Below is the first cut of the list, with between 9-12 competitors revealed.' concludes the spokesman.
