Wesley "Cabbage" Correira vs. Gary "Big Daddy" Goodridge
Awesome light show going off. Very proffessional production value. Goodridge is coming to the ring with "We will rock you". Cabbage is coming to the ring with loud cheers from the crowd. He is definately the crowd favorite in this fight. Mean stare-down between these two sluggers, both look to have bad intentions.

Round 1 of 3 3-minute rounds by K-1 rules.

Carter Williams vs Nobuki Hayashi
Round opens up with a high kick from Williams that gets the crowd cheering. Carter is content throwing low and high kicks exclusively during the first minute of action.

A low kick from Williams scores and makes Hayashi's left leg unstable. Hayashi is a game fighter and steps into the pocket to trade punches. At the two minute mark, both fighters are trading and landing low kicks. A Williams front kick puts Hayashi down at the end of the first round.

Round 2

Carter comes out and is pouring it on with right high kicks that excite the crowd and straight rights that are landing with loud THUDS on Hayashi's head. Right Leg kick and left hook combination score for Williams.

Half way through the round, Hayashi shows a strong will to stay in the fight. He has taken some solid shots from Williams and is still throwing punches. As the round winds down, the pace has slowed. Carter is still working and landing combinations, but he is picking his spots.
End of round.

Butterbean vs Royster
Round 1 is under way. Royseter opens with a leg kck that is countered by a Butterbean jap. Bean lands a wicked right hook that has the big Royster looking for cover. Royster ties him up to get the time to clear the cobwebs. Royster scores a lowkick that puts Butterbean to the canvas.

The beef is flying in this one! Royster pumps a left jab. Butterbean puts his guard down trying to entice Royster into trading shots. Royster stays on the outside and lands kicks and jabs.

Butterbean is YELLING - LETS FIGHT!

Bean is putting on a show for the crowd but is uneffective, so far is landing the counter punch he is looking for. The round comes to an end with Royster throwing a flying knee.

Round 2
Round 2 opens with Royster using his reach to keep the fight outside of Butterbean's reach. The crowd starts chanting Butterbean, Butterbean, Butterbean, trying to get the action started.

Butterbean is keeping his guard down and showing no respect for the big Royster's power. The crowd is distracted as IRON MIKE TYSON ENTERS THE ARENA. As the 2nd round comes to an end with Royster staing on the outside and away from Butterbeans power. At the end of the round, Royster lands a solid right hand that Butterbean smiles at.

Round 3
Royster opens te round with 4 right low kicks that all land and appear to hurt Butterbean. Butterbean is still looking for that 1 right hand counter to end the fight. He lands occasionally, but Royster handles the shot and ties up. Royster gets a yellow card at the 1:00 mark of the round.

Royster goes for a high kick that misses over the top of Butterbean's head. Butterbean takes the opportunity to land a combination. Both fighters tire as the round is nearly over. They trade a couple jabs and... Butterbean lands 2 right hands that cause a standing 8 count at the very end of the 3rd round.

Scott Junk (BJ Penn MMA Hilo, HI) vs. Yusuke Fujimoto (Monster Factory Tokyo, Japan)
Junk starts the fight by chargin in at the bell and forcing Fujimoto to the ropes. Junk lands a couple of knees in the clinch.
Both fighters look light on their feet and are both moving in and out of the pocket fluidly.

Fujimoto looks to counter as Junk presses the action. Junk throws a straight right counter to a Fujimoto kick and puts Fujimoto to the canvas. Junk slows his pace and demonstrates good blocking defense. As the round closes out, Fujimoto gets active but does little damage.

Round 2
Junk is landing and gaining confidence. Fusimoto is starting to get his shots in, mostly counter punching. Both fighters look fresh and remain active.

Junk shows his MMA background as he takes the back of Fujimoto and throws him in a suplex, an illegal move in K-1 that gets Junk a red card. The ref is talking to the judges, but I am not sure if there is a penalty or deduction here. Fujimoto gets a rest in the corner to recover from the throw. Junk shows his professionalism and goes to apologize.

In the last minute of the round, both fighter trade and taste each other's power. Both come out of the trade without serious damage. Fujimoto lands a couple shots toward the end of the round, but nothing causes serious damage.

Round 3
The round starts with some back and forth jabs, but nothing of significance. Junk goes for a high right kick and Fujimoto lands the most solid right hand of the night that puts JUNK OUT COLD!

Fujimoto wins by KO

Goodridge advanced to this fight via TKO over Cabbage. Carter Williams advances by unanimous decision over Nobuki Hayashi. Both fighters are very calm during the pre-fight instructions. This fight looks to have some heavy leather thrown.

Willims opens with a low kick. Goodridge is tentative at the outset. Goodridge gets Williams in the corner and hammers him with two overhand rights that put willimas to the canvas and have willims out on his feet.

Goodridge charges in with a methodical assalt. Goodridge lands another shot that CRUSHES Williams! Williams is out! Williams is out! Goodridge wins convincingly. It takes Williams a good 30 seconds to find his way to his feet. He still looks very dazed and is not able to stand steady.

Some insight

BJ started training seriously at Renzo's brother, Ralphs academy.
Shortly after Ralph gave B his blue belt, Ralph was preparing for a fight. Ralph would use BJ in a lot of different drills to prepare along with a select few.

BJ won the Mundial as a Purple belt. The very next year, right before the Mundial Ralph gave BJ his black. BJ skipped brown, and Won the Mundial as a black belt becoming the only American to win the Mundial in the Black belt category.

BJ wanted to expand his training and sought to train elsewhere.
There may or may not be some animosity because BJ started training
at alot of different places. Ralph guys...."no further comment" for my own safety. I am positive that he signed to fight Renzo as it is the biggest fight in MMA history.

After Hong Man chois victory his music, Billie Jean by Michael Jackson plays. The 7'2" Korean shows off a couple dance moves to the crowd's delight. Then, to really get the crowd going, he points over the ropes toward Mike Tyson. Tyson just smiles at the giant. The crowd is going nuts and starts to rush the barrier to see if any action will happen.

Tyson stays on his chair and everything passes without incident.

Both fighers are pumping combinations, but everything is defended. Fujimoto gets a flurry off that puts Goodridge against the ropes. Goodridge is pushing the pace and closing the distance, but Fujimoto is landing more.

Goodridge swings wildly with a left and right that both miss. He comes back and wings it again, this time landing and putting Fujimoto DOWN! Goodridge stands over Fujimoto yelling. Gracie comes to the ring at the head of the traditional Gracie procession. With Ryan and Rickson in tow. Announcing BJ Penn to the ring to the music BAD TO THE BONE!

2 5-minute rounds.

Round 1

The fight opens up with Qucik Jab from BJ. A low kick from Renzo. Renzo takes BJ down. BJ is working a 1/2 butterfly guard. Not much action on the ground from either fighter. Ref Larry Landless calls for action. Renzo now in BJ's full guard, but working some punches to loosen up BJ.

Renzo stays in BJ's guard, but postures up to both feet to get some leverage. No damage done by either fighter to this point, as they grapple near the ropes. The Hawaiian crowd is restless and starts to chant BJ, BJ, BJ.

Both fighters are content to make small moves on the ground, with neither having significant advantage. Larry Landless warns them again as the crowd goes silent from the lack of action. A smattering of boos goes out in the crowd, still no significant action at the 1/2 way point of the round.

Renzo postures up from the mount with 20 seconds to go in the round. BJ gets up but no punches are thrown before the end of the round.

Not sure when BJ left Ralphs school or why, but when he won the World Tournament in Brasil (black belt under 67k) he was already in Nova Uniao for some time, training under Renato Verissimo, he left Ralph either as a blue or purple belt.
