Gekopieerd van the Observer:
Welcome to our live coverage of tonight's UFC 54 PPV show from Las Vegas. We're looking for your thoughts on the show, so you can leave a thumbs up, thumbs down or thumbs in the middle along with a best and worst match to [email protected].
Prelim results:
James Irvin b Terry Martin with a spectacular flying knee as Martin went to take him down in the first round. Martin got a few takedowns in round one.
Trevor Prangley b Travis Lutter via easy decision, totally dominating
Matt Lindland b Joe Doerksen also due to a unanimous decision. Said to be boring, with Lindland taking Doerksen down time and time again. Both were going for submissions but neither came close.
Thanks to Todd Martin with the live reports. Building is sold out.
PPV opener is Frank Trigg vs. George St. Pierre. St. Pierre totally dominated Trigg, going from mount to back, throwing punches, bloodying Trigg up and finally winning late in the first round with a choke. This sets up St. Pierre vs. Matt Hughes in December.
Diego Sanchez vs. Brian Gassaway is up next. Sanchez looks totally different. Gassaway claims Sanchez won't be able to take him down. Well, Sanchez took him down on the second attempt and went from back to mount, pounding on Gassaway. Gassaway has a small cut over the right eye. Gassaway looked like he was finished when he did a nice escape. Sanchez worked on several different submissions including an armbar as the round ended.
Second round saw Gassaway hit Sanchez with a good punch and Diego walked right through it and took him down. He made him pay, just pounding on his face with punches and elbows until Gassaway finally tapped out. Sanchez was really popular with the crowd.
Randy Couture vs. Mike Van Arsdale is up next. We've just finished round two. First round had some excellent wrestling. Couture won the round even though Van Arsdale had the best take down. Couture seems in better shape as he got stronger in round two. Van Arsdale is bloodied and seems to be losing his heart. Early in the third round, Couture got the win with a Nogueira style Anaconda choke. He'd been working on the move most of the fight.
Tim Sylvia vs. Tra Telligman is up next. Sylvia knocked him out cold with a Mirko Cro Cop style left high kick just as time was running out in the first round. All stand-up. Telligman tried but couldn't hurt the bigger man with punches. Telligman was carried out on a stretcher and it looked serious as hell.
They're going right to the Liddell vs. Horn main event without airing any of the prelim fights.
Liddell knocked him down with a hard right, so Horn's streak of never being knocked down is over. Horn did a good job of survival. Liddell still to me looks like he's going to get tired faster. Liddell needs a knockout, but Liddell is dominating with a 10-8 round. Liddell knocked the hell out of him in the second round with a right hook but Horn survived again until the end of the round. Horn definitely wants Liddell on the ground anc can't take him down. Horn's face is looking bad. Thrid round was a lot closer. Horn scored with a lot of leg kicks. Liddell still scored the best punch. Eddie Bravo gave the round to Horn, but I'd make it even. Liddell punched him to the left eye and put Horn down. Horn was bothered by double vision and ref John McCarthy stopped it. Horn's left looks bad.
