Op woensdag gaat een nieuw wedstrijdformaat en organisatie door in Los Angeles california: "the Budo Challenge" van Rickson Gracie
Na ons resume te hebben doorgestuurd, zijn ik en men broer (michel en maurice) uitgenodigd om mee te vechten, ik in -68kg en maurice in -60kg

The current 2x Jiu-Jitsu world champion of the open category Ronaldo 'Jacare', arrived in the U.S. on Tuesday morning, ready to face two challenges. The first one will happen on Saturday October 7th, when he will be among the spectators at the Mohegan Sun Arena to cheer for his Jiu-Jitsu rival Marcio 'Pe de Pano' Cruz, who is about to make his MMA debut facing Japanese fighter Keigo Kunihara at the UFC 55.
The second challenge involves 'Jacare' himself. After the UFC, the Brasa black belt put his gi on and heads to Los Angeles, California, to fight at the Budo Challenge event promoted by the legendary Rickson Gracie. The event is scheduled to happen between October 17th and 21st. Three hours before getting on the plane that took him to Connecticut, Jacare told ADCC News he is very excited about everything that is about to go on.
'Since I have to travel to the U.S to fight the Budo Challenge I decided to leave early to be able to go to cheer for 'Pe de Pano'. I'm going there to give my support to all the Brazilian fighters (Renato Babalu Sobral is on the card as well), including Alessio Sakara, who is Italian, but has a Brazilian heart. My hear is yellow and green, and in moments like this there is no rivalry' says Ronaldo.
About the Budo Challenge, Jacare assured ADCC News he is ready to win one more title. 'I always try to have a good knowledge of the tournament rules, this is very important. What I really don't care is who I'm going to face, I must be always ready. In my opinion, the rules works in favor of the athlete who is well prepared' ends Ronaldo.
According to Kid Peligro's article posted here on ADCC News, The Budo Challenge will reward the modern warrior's efforts with a new and unique set of rules that have been formulated so that strategy, action, and submission attempts are rewarded while stalling and controlling your opponent with no purpose or intent is penalized. A single point is scored for achieving common grappling positions, while multiple points are awarded for submission attempts which cause the opponent to execute a technique to escape and present real danger. The goal of the Budo Challenge is to reward strategy, originality and action so the best warriors truly win.

Maurice en Michel zijn al zwaar ass aan 't kicken door ALLEBEI uitgenodigt te zijn voor zo'n prestigieus tornooi, met maar 4 deelnemers in elke gewichtsklasse. Je kan er alleen vechten op uitnodiging (en enkel de wereldtop is er uitgenodigt), de heen- en terugvlucht én de hotelkosten zijn door de organisatie betaald en het prijzengeld voor de 2 3de plaatsen in elk gewicht is al $500 (dus dat hebben ze zowiezo)!
Alleen al de eer en de ervaring zijn goud waard, en ik ben dan ook apetrots dat de Goffart brothers erbij zijn.
Exit rules bigtime!!!

Ik heb er zelf nog niks van gehoord, en noch op de clubsite, noch op Ken's site staat meer info, dus ...! Ik ben echt benieuwd, ik hoop dat ze snel een computer vinden om ons iets te laten weten!
Ik vond het feit dat Michel en Maurice voor zo'n tornooi zijn uitgenodigd een hele prestatie, en had het verhaal dan ook via mail gedaan naar diverse grote kranten en TV-zenders ... maar ik heb van niemand reactie gehad. Zelfs geen klein berichtje om me te vertellen hoe oninteressant ze het wel niet vinden! Boeren!!! :evil:
Oh well, nog een paar jaar op de tanden bijten en dan kent Jan Modaal de sport wel wat beter ... of is dat ijdele hoop?! :wink:

Jammer van het resultaat. Volgende keer beter. Was eigenlijk wel benieuwd naar de ervaringen met de nieuwe regels.
