Toney has won 69 of 76 pro fights

James Toney is confident he can tempt former heavyweight king Lennox Lewis out of retirement if he claims a portion of the world title next month. Former three-weight world champion Toney fights Lewis' former conqueror Hasim Rahman for the WBC title in Atlantic City on 18 March.

"My goal right now is to fight Lennox Lewis," Toney told BBC Sport. "I respect Lewis, he's a good fighter, but he's not a great fighter like me. Lennox will return - he can't resist.

Toney, 37, beat then WBA champion John Ruiz last April but was stripped of the belt after testing positive for a banned substance.
Britain's Lewis, now 40, retired in 2003 after beating Vitali Klitschko and has resisted countless calls to return. Rahman knocked Lewis out in 2001 but suffered the same fate in a rematch later the same year.

Toney, who has won 69 of his 76 professional fights, also poured scorn on Nikolay Valuev, the 23st Russian who took Ruiz' WBA title last December. "Nikolay Valuev is like Frankenstein," said the Michigan native. "He's just another guy they want to put up as the 'great white hope'. I don't like John Ruiz, but there's no way he lost that fight against Valuev. I'll fight Valuev, embarrass him and knock him out. James Toney don't worry about nobody."

Mja wat moet je er van zeggen he.

Lewis is wel zo verstandig om niet meer de ring in te gaan denk ik.

Ik zou Toney wel tegenover lamon Brewster willen zien staan.
