The first official bout for PRIDE's May 5 "Total Elimination Absolute" event was announced Tuesday in Tokyo.

Former WBC cruiserweight champion Yosuke Nishijima (Pictures) returns to the ring after losing a brutal slugfest with Mark Hunt (Pictures) to face 1992 Barcelona Olympics judo gold medalist Hidehiko Yoshida (Pictures).

In his mixed martial arts debut at PRIDE's "Dreamers," Nishijima, who showed a flare for the dramatic and reliable jab, gained praise from the media for taking the much heavier Hunt into the third round.

"Total Elimination Absolute" will air live via same-day Pay-Per-View in North America on Dish Network, DirecTV and iNDEMAND.

suffe matchup want ze weten dondersgoed dat joshida m in de eerste ronde submit..net zo als ze minowa tegen crocop zetten..de toppers worden gespaard om tegen elkaar uit te komen..opzich wel leuk natuurlijk want ik wil joshida wel es tegen cro cop zien!

Jammer idd, het is toch veel leuker om Nishijima tegen een meer stand-up gast te zetten...
Tegen Hunt was een van de vetste partijen sinds tijden.

ik denk dat ze Alistair tegen een relatief makkelijker tegenstander zetten. net als fedor, cro cop en nogueira. ik bedoel hey.... wat een final 4 zou dat zijn!!!

bij de vorige hw gp was fedor ook zwaar gematst

Two more bouts have been announced for PRIDE FIGHTING'S upcoming May 5th event, TOTAL ELIMINATION ABSOLUTE 2006.

Croatian sensation MIRKO "CRO COP" FILIPOVIC, will battle against Japanese pro-wrestler Ikuhisa "Punk" Minowa and the "Babyfaced Assasin" Josh Barnett will take on Red Devil's Aleksander Emelianenko. Coming off of impressive TKO victory over Giant Silva, only one man will be left standing as Ikuhisa Minowa faces Mirko Crocop, in hopes of advancing to the next round of TOTAL ELIMINATION '06.

Standing just 3 inches shorter than his opponent but weighing more, Josh Barnett will face Aleksander Emelianenko. With both fighters winning their last bouts with the rear naked choke, this match will determine who the better submission artist is.

Other fighters expected to participate in the tournament: ANTONIO RODRIGO NOGUEIRA, MARK HUNT, "TK" KOSAKA and WANDERLEI SILVA. Additional participants and match ups to be announced soon.

die bokser tegen yoshida. kutlineup. Dat wordt binnen een minuut beslecht op de grond.
