Japan August 5 th 2006

It's been two years since Semmy Schilt has particpated in a mma match.
After going the distance with Fedor and his war agaisnt Josh Barnett at the much disgussed Bom Baye event in december 2003, Semmy has been focussing himself solely
on K-1. After being undefeated in K-1 for 14 times winning the World K-1 GP title, Semmy fought against Hoost and won by tko in round 2 at the 2005 dynamite show in Japan.
Then went to New Zealand to loose a contraversial spilt decission agaisnt Peter Aerts (2 yellow cards for holding in 45 sec in round 3).
Not even a month later Semmy fought in Vegas agaisnt Mushashi and won by decision in a one side match.
To keep bussy he fought two weeks later in Holland and beat the Loyd" the shin breaker" Van Damme in K-1 Amsterdam event in May 2006.
Two weeks later team Golden Glory travelled again to Korea to the country were Semmy Schilt ko'd the Brazilian Giant Montoya Silva. The deception from this trip would be very
big and bitter. After winning clearly three rounds, the Japanese judge scores the fight in favour for Semmy but the two Koreans score the fight for Hong Men, so Hong men
destroys Semmy victoy streak and gets a very controversial win over Semmy.
Immidiatley an official protest was made in wrtitting were today the whole Golden Glory team is waiting for an answer.
More painfull is seeing a fight like that back on eurosport tv and receiving calls from all over Europe, why we would put up with this crazy decision and it all comes back at you.
Semmy went on a holiday to Brazil when he received a phone call from manager Boon, just finishing a surf session and now I am on the beach was his answer on the phone,
thats cool answered Boon, as you can see I have called you many times, I need a quick decision. Would you want to fight an mma match on August 5th?
Well says Semmy I have trained two years stand uop and uhhh, I do not know. After a few more calls with Semmy and trainer Dave Jonkers and members of the GG team,
it was decided he would take the fight on such short notice. Martijn de Jong went to Zuid Laren in Holland to train with Semmy ground techniques as well as Jelle Waringa who
always is ready as a sparringspartner for Semmy. Within one week TBS tv from Japan was in the dojo to make recordings of Semmy's MMA training and a few days later
they were all in Japan.
Of course manager Bas and trainer Jonkers loved to have a Korean as an opponant, Ming Soo Kim was the finalist at the K-1 GP in Korea at the same event were Semmy
got the unfair crazy dec loss. This olympic Judo Korean and stand uo fighter was a nice object to get revenge over the controversial loss in the country Korea (were Semmy
is really popular) even many Koreans did not agree with that decision.

Moment Supreme:

Finally after the usual press conferences and rule meetings its judgement day.
Hero's with national tv coverage in Japan and big comercial sponsors is becomming the biggest MMA event in the world, with fantastic MMA fighters fighting at these shows.
Sakuraba jumped from Pride to K-1 and made his debut at this show which looked much like a rockey movie. Don Frey had a spectacular win and many great ko's and
fights were to be seen this night.
However the way Semmy Schilt returned to the MMA field was something completley surprising: With more stand up expierienced now the eyes were on the reigning
K-1 champion. Semmy had the most to loose of all, he was the K-1 champ and the reason to take this fight was to get revenge over the Korean dispute and to show the
whole world that Semmy Schilt even became more dangerous with more stand up expierience.
It became the most bloodiest fight in Hero's histroy, Semmy opened with a good hard front kick followed by a hard left. the Korean tries to take Semmy down but Semmy
reverses the Korean standing and attacks his upperlegs with hard knees. When the ref separetes both fighters, Semmy connect a huge left jab and a big krack can be hearded.
The nose of the Japanese is pooring blood but Semmy is not finished he follow's with a big knee to the head and more damage is done to the Korean fighter.
Finally the Korean fighter can take Semmy down and takes site control. when Semmy has an open guard and the Korean is standing to do some GP to Semmy, Semmy moves
his left right leg to the face of the Korean fighter and cotrols the right arm of the Korean by his suite (which is now used against himself that suite). With Semmy's left hand
he keeps pounding the Korean then, Semmy sinks in the triangle deep and the Korean is out for minutes. His " white" suite tuned into red and lying there on his back for a few
minutes not able to move. Schilt wins with a triangle and beat the Judo champion at his own game. A great revenge and mental upper for Semmy who now can fully concentrate
on his upcomming qualification fight September 30th in Osaka, where team member Chalid "Die Faust" Arrab will also be fighting and GG member Stefan " The Blitz" Leko, its
a bussy year for Golden Glory.
