Sergei Kharitonov will face Alexander Emelianenko in a reserve match at the PRIDE FINAL CONFLICT ABSOLUTE, the Final Round of the Open Weight Grand Prix to be held in Saitama Super Arena on September 10th.

In February of this year, an accidental injury caused Kharitonov to lose to Alistair Overeem. However, Kharitonov recently sent PRIDE an update on his condition. His injuries have healed and he appears completely prepared as he sets his sights on the Emelianenko brothers.

Sergei Kharitonov faced off against Middleweight fighter Alistair Overeem in the PRIDE 31 DREAMERS event held in February of this year. Many people predicted a win for the larger Kharitonov but his shoulder was dislocated soon after the start of the match, resulting in a loss and a large move away from both the Open Weight Grand Prix and a much-desired fight with Fedor Emelianenko.

However, Kharitonov returned to Russia soon after that fight and began preparing for his next fight. His injury has completely healed and he's now training intensively with the Russian Top Team. He seems to have grown much larger than before as a result of that training. Kharitonov has now added extra power to his already unique ability to shut down his opponents, making him a serious threat to the other fighters.

According to Kharitonov, he has worked together with the Russian Top Team coaches to analyze Alexander Emelianenko's weaknesses and habits. Not only will Emelianenko have to fight Kharitonov, he will also be working against the brainpower in Kharitonov's corner.

Kharitonov says that he's completely prepared for his comeback fight. Should he defeat Alexander, his brother Fedor Emelianenko, the PRIDE Heavyweight Champion and the long-standing rival of Russian Top Team, will be waiting.
