Minowa vs Tamura:

Ok, Minowa just got KTFO by Tamura in a horrible ref job IMO. Tamura hurt Minowa w/ a knee to the body, he doubled over and went down, Tamura took a second, soccerkicked him twice, punched him and then KHTFO w/ another soccerkick... I don't know why the ref didn't step in earlier.

Hansen vs Aoki:

Round 1:

Hansen takes the centre of the ring. Lowkick by Hansen, he slips down and Aoki rushes into his hal guard, Hansen bucks and almost reverses him and to his feet but Aoki maintains his weight and takes him down, in Hansen's half guard once again. establishing head control looking for a pass. He tries but ends up in Hansen's full guard, taking some fairly decent shots with his right and left but I don't think Aoki has a ton of punching power.

He tries to pass and scrambles down to Hansen's half guard. He's looking to move his knee up for moutn, Hansen tries a backdoor escape, Aoki grabs a nice armbar in the scramble! He's looking to extend, Hansen moves with it and winds up in Aoki's guard. Aoki goes for an omoplata, maybe even a gogoplata. He locks his leg in, pushing down the head, HOLY SHIT! He's got it! HANSEN TAPS TO A FUCKING GOGOPLATA!

Gono vs Kondo:

Round 1:

Kondo tries a middle kick and a low kick, both not with much zip and are evaded. Kondo is trying to be the aggressor, light lowkick by Gono. Nice straight right body shot by Gono as Kondo comes in. Gono looking to fight off the counter. Lowkick trade. Jab and a body kick by Kondo, he slips and Gono follows him down into his guard.

Gono working some body shots from guard, Kondo's head is popping htrough the ropes, so they restart. Gono tries to pass but winds up in Kondo's guard again; Yuki closes it up for the time being. Now sizing Gono's arm up, maybe reaching over for a kimura. Thinks Omoplata as Gono comes down awkward with a punch, but only for a second. Gono tries a jumping pass, gets him nowhere. Kondo thinking Kimura again; Gono tries to get a leg free in the scramble. Gets up with a light soccer kick, and they're on their feet again.

Decent high kick by Gono partiall blocked, Gono catches Kondo's middle kick and tries a Thai sweep. He pushes out of a clinch as he doesn't take Kondo down. Lowkick by Gono. Nicee right hand by Gono, Kondo comes forward with his own good right hook. They trade middle kicks, Gono almost catches Kondo's, Kondo goes for a thai clinch and Gono pushes away. Nice bodyshot by Gono. High kick by Gono is blocked partially. Kondo walks him down into the corner and tags him with a left.

1-2 by Kondo lands fairly well, nice lowkick by Gono as he walks into the centre of the ring. Kondo responds with one of his own. Bodykick by Gono, Kondo tries to go forward with a 1-2, Gono ducks it. Nice left hook by Kondo. Lowkick by Kondo. They trade light lowkicks.

They continue circling, fight is fairly technical with no real damage or danger yet, nice jab by Gono as Kondo comes in. Kondo trying to chase and trap Gono in the corner throughout this fight, nice left hook and a body kick by Gono. Gono with another decent high kick. Gono with a flying knee to the body, taking a cue from Gono's teammate Misaki. Kondo's eye is swelling up. Nice counter by Gono, glancing left hook as he walks out of the corner. Tries to kick the body a couple times, Kondo takes it on his forearms. Gono jabs. They trade lowkicks but without too much power begind them. Nice right hook by Gono.

Kondo tries a big uppercut that misses, clinches up with Gono against the ropes as he whiffs. Gono tries an outside trip, fails, pushes away, kicks to the body, and then again. Kondo tags Gono with a left, they clinch up and push away. Low kick by Gono after 2 missed jabs. Bell.

Fairly low energy round, both guys being reserved and technical.

Nice thai clinch knee to the body by Kondo, Gono slips a right hook as Kondo comes in. Nice shovel punch to the body that faked out Gono. Kondo kicks high and jabs, Gono clinches up with him and has him on the ropes, short left hook as they break up. Kondo tries to lunch forward with a knee to the body, Gono circles out. Light kicks to the body exchanged. Gono tries the jumping knee to the body, jabs Kondo. They trade blocked high kicks, nice left connects by Kondo. Kondo clinches up with a minute left, pushes away. He punches with a left shovel to the body and a right follow-up which doesn't really connect. Bell.

Hard one to call, it could go either way. I'd go with Gono, probably, but Kondo pushed the pace.

Edit, Gono wins split decision

Shogun vs Nakamura :

Nakamura has his usal ad for Donpen, the Japanese megastore, with the dancing penguins, before his entrance. Now "Yuudachi" starts up and Nak makes his entrance. In his blue gi with a hoodie underneath, hood up. He runs to the ring.

Brazilian hiphop song about Chute Boxe and Shogun plays as Shogun comes out looking happy with Ninja and the rest of the Chute Boxe crew, Rudimar, etc.

Round 1:

Shogun tries to start with a flying kick, he kicks low, Nak responds with a right hand. Nice counter by Shogun, 1-2 by Nakamura. He jumps in with a knee, SHogun wants to clinch, is going for a body lock, forces Nak onto the ropes and works a knee and a body shot.

Shogun kneeing Nak's thigh from the clinch. Nak tries to throw him but has no real estate in which to do so since he's up against the ropes. They are broken up by the ref.

Shogun triesto kick high, left straight counter by Nak, shogun cliches him up against the ropes. Trying to knee the thigh again. Nak tries to throw him over his hip, stubles to one knee, gets up. Nak with a wild 1-2 as he breaks out, Shogun with a right as he clinches and triesto knee the thigh again

Bodyshot by Nak as he breaks out of the clinch, and jabs. Looks like Shogun's eye is bruised up a bit. Body kick by Shogun, nice combo put together by Nak, with a nice body shot. Shogun takes him down from a bodylock into side control, and goes for mount. He almost has it, is in more like knee on chest, and now flattens down into mount. Nak tries to turn his back, and successfully escapes to his feet. Nice work. Shogun clinches him and forces him into the conrer.

Still clinched up as Shogun seems really intent on kneeing Nak's thigh in this fight. He trips him down into Nak's half guard once again. He gets free with a nice knee and gets to side control, once again Nak stands up very well and begins to let his hands go with nice combos on Shogun. I'd say Nak is winning the standup.

Nak uses the same buch and stand escape. Shogun knees him on the way up, and almost has his back standing but they go to the centre. Nice left hook and a right uppercut by Nak, Shogun gets a right in and clinches up, kneeing his thigh once again. He takes him down against the ropes and is in mount. He drops a nice right and left from mount before looking to secure his position. Nak tries to bridge to his back once again, Shogun goes over to side control to try to sink in an arm triangle.
Shogun continues to work this arm triangle, he doesn't have it quite where he wants it and chooses to take mount again and abandon it. Nak tries to turn his back to get up, Shogun establishes back control with both hooks . Nak rolls to his stomach and eats a couple of punches from Shogun as Shogun now works for the RNC. Looks like he's almost got it but Nak calmly lifts his forearm off his neck. Shogun drops a punch and goes for the RNC again, Nak controlling a wrist and evades danger. He tries to look to see if he can rooll to reverse, Shogun stays with him and looks for the RNC again, dropping a cople of rights as he rolls into mount again. Holding Nak's throat with one hand while dropping a punch with the other, Nak reverses him and looks for a leglock as he is standing and Shogun is on his back. Shogun flips over and gets mount once again, he tries to stomp Nak but misses but almost has back control, looking for another RNC.

Shogun tries to roll him to mout again, Nak reverses into guard and is standing as Shogun is on his back, He kicks his leg and punches him a couple times, the bell goes.

Very spirited first round.

Round 2:

They both jab at each other. Shogun goes in for a left pucnh, Shogun falls to a knee as he goes back, Shogun eats a left from Nak as he goes in to, you guessed it, clinch him and knee his thigh. Nak trying to circle out of the corner, Shogun almost establishing a bodylock. Nak explodes with a nice judo trip and takes Shogun down into side control, Shogun gets to his four points and takes 1 or 2 knees from Nak before standing up. Nak with an uppercut-straight combo, they are trading now, good punches by both men as Shogun clinches Nak in the corner again.

Overhand right and a jab by Shogun, knee by Rua, left hook by Nak. Shogun with a switch-step inside trip, takes Nak down into side control. Elbows the bodyas he postures up and attempts to work some groun and pund with his left, Nak tries to get up, Shogun scrambles up and attempts to soccer kick before going down again to keep Nakamura down, still maintaining side control. Thinking about another arm triangle it looks like, as he takes mount and works some short punches from very close in as Nak is holding him down close.

Ref calling for action as Shogun is unsure how to proceed from Mount. Nak tries to bridge out again and gives his back once again. Shogun almost leaning against the turnbuckle in back control, tries to flip over to mount again he's very high on Nak's back and almost falls off but he slides down and they are on their sides now as Shogun maintains back control and punches once before trying the RNC again- Nak slips out as the bell goes.

Chonan slaps Nak a couple times in the corner! He really wants him to get more urgent.

Round 3:

Right straight by Nakamura. He tags Shogun with a left and he staggers back, he's ok but a bit rocked as Nak tees off with a combo he manages to block the majority of. He tries to clich Nak in the corner yet again but the ref braeks it up almost immediately. They tumble down to Nak's half guard as they resume, Shogun going to clinch again. Shogun manages to move his knee up and take mount, thinking about a keylock from top position but Nak slips out, and bridges, Shogun wants to take his back once again, gets a short knee in as he wins up in Nak's guard. He gets to side control and tries to stand up for a soccer kick, no go as Nak gets up too, he manages to trip Nakamura down to half guard again, too close to the ropes for the ref's liking, and they restart.

Full guard by Nak in the centre, left by Shogun. He stands up ant tries to fall back into his guard with a bobm, Nak kicks him away. He tries a jumping stomp, Nak evades it and they are in an awkward position for a moment before they get up still clinched up, Nak working an inside trip to take Shogun down. He decides he wants it on the feet, and stands up, only to get taken down almost instantly by yet another Shogun trip. Shogun's in side control with nak holding him close with head and arm control. GOod knee to the head by Shogun, as Nak's grip loosens. Couple of lefts by Nak, Shogun wants to soccer kick as he stands up but Nak has anticipated that and moves away from it before it happens; Shogun still is in dominant position and takes mount working a couple of short punches as Nak holds him close. Fight is coming to an end as Shogun appears to be content to ride out the rmeaining time from mount; he tries to get up and stomp as time runs down, he misses, Nak gets up and comes out fists flying with everything he has for a late KO- he's getting some good punches in here as Shogun tries to counter, but the bell goes and Shogun earns what will surely be a unanimous decision.

Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Gilbert Melendez

Kan volgens mij wel een leuke partij worden...

Wheelie
31-12-2006, 18:30
Round 1:

Jab by Melendez, they swing at each other an clinch up, bot gus landed pretty decent. Melendez works a knee, Kawajiri pushes away and tags him with a left which sends him back.Gil lands a hard punch of his own! Kawajiri knocks Melendez down with a straight right and works knees from north-south as Melendez makes his way back up to his feet! Both guys have landed hard shots already. They're taking a time out- Melendez is receiving a yellow card, I'm not exactly sure why.

Nice shot by Gil, he's bleeding from that Jawajiri punch. Couple short hooks by Kawajiri before they get into a strenght test in the clinch here, Kawajiri trying to trip him, Gil bouncing around on one leg with great balance, now Kawajiri hauls him down with a body lock and quickly gets on top of him to avoid Gil standing up. He's got head control but Gil is strong and gets to his feet, still clinched.

Now Gil is committing to a single leg, he gives it up and works a knee to the body, they're still clinched up. Ref breaks it up. Jab by Gil, nice body shot by Kawajiri, they try to trade but both miss, and clinch upp, Gil wokring wild punches with kawajiri in the corner, effective straight right counter by Kawajiri and Gil almost takes him down but the Crusher stands up and they're clinched in the corner. Kawajiri tries to haul Melendez down but he keeps balanceand takes top position as they go down, Kawajiri manages to stand up. They both swing with vicious intentions as they get up, most effective punch is a left hook by Kawa that resounds through the building but bot h guys land. Gil shoots, Kawajiri sprawls but Gil quickly establishes back control with both hooks and is trying to work for the RNC. Kawahiri is holding a wrist and tring to flip to Gil's guard. Excellent job as he works his way out and now is trying to double leg Gil, and now he gets that as Melendez has been taken down in the conrer, Kawajiri holding his leg trying to move it out of the way, establishes head control in the four point north-south and drops a couple of knees. Gil manages to exploit his momentum and almost has back control as they are in an awkward spot on the ground with both guys in less than ideal positions. Doesn't look like either guy wants tso press his luck by moving, now Gil tries to step over into side control, drops a couple of good punches on Kawajiri who is trying to control his head. Now he breaks that head control and is in Kawajiris guard as he pushes him up against the corner.

SLowed a bit as Kawajiri works to his feet and takes a knee by Gil in the process. Ref breaks them as soon as he's up. They both jab, Gil looks ighter on his feet, they are looking to trade, nice right straight by Gil. Jab by Melendez. Nice shot to the body and an overhand by Gil, Kawa comes back with good punches of his own, left hook by Gil as he tries for a takedown. Kawajiri wards that off and hits him with an overhand right. Nice shovel body shot by Gil and a jab, Jawajiri jabs, comes forward, knees the body and Gil tags him with a righ straight that knocks Kawajiri down, Kawajiri basically fireman's carries him over and Gil tries for a leglock, Kawajiri scrambles out ot back control and is working for an RNC on Melnedez with both hooks in. Now he is too high up and falls over, they both sc ramble up and are clinched against the ropes, fast break by the ref.

Round 2:

Gil appears to have a second wind as he's very light on his feet now, he swings for an uppercut and Kawajiri slips and boxes well on the inside before they clinch up. He tries a judo throw and Gil pushes away, jabs him. Nice counter by Kawajiri on Gil's wild punches rocks Gil and he staggers a bit, Kawajiri's unable to capitalize and he slips away. Great left hook lands by the Crusher, Gil with a tired shot that Kawa barely bothers sprawling on, nice dirty-boxing uppercut by Kawajiri, he misses a wild overhand right. Jab by Gil. Nice 1-2 by Kawajiri, he's tagged by an uppercut as he goes to take Gil down but he gets it and takes him down, Gil is right back to his feet but not before heating a knee from the Crusher. He goes for a lazy uppercut again and Kawajiri counters well before sprawling on Gil's shot in the corner, he has head control on his knees as Gil's on his feet.

Gil pushes away and jabs. They both miss wild overhands, both guys winging tired, nice uppercut by Kawa does land. Kawajiri with a tired left as he rushes forward to clinch, ref breaks it very fast. Referees are breaking clinches very fast since the Shogun fight. They trade, both guys are tired, couple of nice right straight bs Gil at the end, he tries another and Kawajiri slips it. Sorry, my feed broke up a bi there. WHen I got back, Gil wniged a tired hook that did connect, nice right and a left to the body by Kawajiri, now they are trading, both guys getting good punches in. Kawajiri cluncehs him on the ropes with some light knees, bell.

Should be unanimous for Kawajiri but an awesome fight.

Fujita lands again w/ that right hand but Kurt takes it well as it was a grazing shot. Low kick inside by Fujita. Kurt constantly sticking his lead arm out there, almost like he wants dabs or something.

Kurt finally throws a punch of his own... low kick by Fujita lands nicely! Another lowkick this time Kurt avoids it. Fujita goes for that right hand again but misses, Kurt returns fire but nothing lands for either.

Kurt gets Fujita in close, Fujita lands some shots and he goes down IT'S OVER!!!!!! SOCCERKICK BY FUJITA FINISHES THE FIGHT!

Yoshida comes out with a lowkick, they were flying at each other and now they are clinched up. Yoshida with an easy trip into side control. He's establishing head and arm control. James tries to get to his feet, YOshida curles for the armbar, James tries to spike him on his head, he's out of armbar danger but now Yoshida grabs a leg and is working for a leglokc. He's got it isolated, but James is sitting up and trying to work GnP to get out of it, but he can't establish a safe position to hit from.

James is ineffectually punching at Yoshida, YOshida now going for a straight achilles lock, James is wincing in pain but decides to try and tough it out. He manages to get to his feet, he's getting clocked all around by Yoshida who teesoff on him like Fujita did, then clinches him in the corner.

Yoshida trips him down, punches him once, and James manages to get to his feet. They trade a bit, Yoshida tries a body kick but it's more of a thigh kick. Now they trade again, James appears a bit rocked but Yoshida is getting hit a bit too. Yoshida ducks under a right and clinches Thomson, he throws him down with a judo toss into side control. Yoshida is passing to North-south and working for a kimura, James isn't doing much to counter, he tries to roll over as Yoshida extends it, and is basically wincing and taking it for the moment. They roll over 360 as Yoshida is back on top working to extend it again- it's agaisnt the canvas. Now he sits up to try to work it over behind thompson again. Thompson sits up and tries to pound, Yoshida has a leg and attempts to work a leglock now. James is going for a kneebar of his own.

Yoshida simply pulls his leg out and stand up, he's in north-south on Thompson now, Thompson is so big he kind of rolls over to put Yoshida off balance, now he's going for an ankle pick, Yoshida is almost out of the ring, he kind of falls out of the ring and they're going to take a break to put him back in the ring. He's still down on the apron, he might have fell funny.

Yoshida is up and it continues, Nice left anda knee by Thompson, he's swinging gassed and now tries to throw left uppercuts and knees to the head on Yoshida, Yoshida coming back with uppercuts of his own, it looks a lot like Fujita Thompson now as they're oth gassed and swinging at each other.Thompson is trying to throw thaiu clinch knees, he connects with a couple good ones and Yoshida falls down, maybe he's rocked or exhausted, but he's too close to the ropes for Thompson to follow up, now Yoshida appears really hurt and the ref has to drag him , Thompson has him munted, he's throwing from mount, the ref stops it.

Round 1:

Barnett jabbing, trying to find range. Nice left to the body by Josh, and they clinch. Trading small knees inside. Ref calls for action, short punches by both guys. Not much happening, body shots by Barnett, Nog looking for a trip and they break.

Barnett misses a wild overhand right, gets a knee and a right in. He tosses out a couple jabs, Nog slips them and goes with knees to the head as he has head control. NIce right bodyshot by Barnett, Nog wants a Thai clinch, Barnett shrugs him off, straight jab by Barnett, misses a knee.

Nice straight bodyshot by Barnett, he wants a guillotine but Nog breaks away easily. Barnett the crisper initiator tonight, he gets a bodyshot but is hit by a couple of crisp counters by Nog. They trade jabs. Both pawing out jabs, they clinch up, Barnett get smoved onto the ropes. Some small knees by Nogueira, now a better one on the break. Jab by Nog. Nice right straight by Nog. They trade, Nog with a knee in a thai clinch again, they clinc against the ropes, Barnett with knees to the body, Nog trying to use his hands. JOsh lunges with a body shot that misses.

12 by Nog, Nog lets out the first lowkick, nice snap on it. Josh rushes forward, Nog tries a thai clinch knee again. Josh drops levels for a double, he picks Nog up with pure strength and slams him pro wrestling style. He's outside of Nogueira's guard, lets go with a couple of knees to the head.

He has head control on Nog oustide his guard, ref calls for action, Josh tries an explosive move but Nog easily recovers a heels-on-hips position, Josh tries to pass with a stomp, now trying to work a guillotine outside of Nog's guard, Nog with a beautiful sweep to Barnett's half guard. He's working to free his head with a few decent punches. IMO Barnett has weak GNP defense, so this is Nogueira's chance to accumulate scoring

Intermittent GnP with punches by Nog, this is hwere they get nasty with sort elbows in the UFC. He's holding Barnett's face with one arm and punching with his right. Now he wants to move his knee up, Barnett wants to establish head control, Nog goes with short lefts from tight in.

Nog tries to haul him down, and does, Josh reverses and gets to the top, outside his guard briefly but Nogueira is way too good off his back to let that happen, and he recovers a full closed guard as Josh lets some decent punches go. Nog works to heels on hips, pushes him away, as Nog stands up Barnett controls his head and gets a knee. They're gonna take a break to wipe up Josh's bloody face.

Nog peppers him with a couple of shots, Barnett starts to move his head and tries to step back. Good knee by Nog as Josh lowers his head, overhand right and a nice crisp left to the body by Barnett, but Nog counters as well. Barnett goes for a weak double leg shot which Nog doesn't even bother sprawling on, Barnett seems to be very fatigued as the bell goes.

Round 3:

Barnett getting his crisp jab back again early. Nice right straight through the guard by Nogueira. Barnett goes to the body, and again. Nog wants that thai clinch again. Nice hard body shot by Barnett, he slips Nog's counters but Nog comes forward with a combo and partiall scores. Nice uppercut and left hook by Nog.

He comes forward with a great 1-2 that stuns Barnett, and goes for a couple knees to the head. He rushes forward to take Barnett down, Barnett grabs a guillotine which appears to be very deep, the announcers are going wild over it but I think Nog will get out- Barnett closes up his guard, Nogueira pops his head out finally.

Nog works the body a bit from Josh's full guard, Josh trying to strike back from the bottom but Nogueira answers in due kind. Josh tries to move his guard up, Nog passes and tries to hold Josh down, Barnett manages to stand up, Nogueira is still thinking about takedown as they clinch up in the corner. Barnett wants a spinaround kimura, but he basically just falls down and lets Nogueira control his back and throw a few short punches, as Barnett goes to his full guard. He moves his guard up again, nothing doing as Noguira punches the body. Bell.
