Heavyweight mixed martial artist Mark Kerr (http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/fightfinder.asp?fighterID=71) (Pictures (http://www.sherdog.com/news/picture_gallery.asp?f_id=71@@Mark%20Kerr)) has been suspended indefinitely by the Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation for failing pre-fight medical tests, said MTDAR Director Michael Mazzulli on Tuesday.

Kerr, who was scheduled to fight Sean O'Haire at the inaugural Global Fighting Championships event at the Mohegan Sun Casino & Resort in Uncasville, Conn., has fought just three times since 2001, and last tasted victory in January of 2000 against Igor Borisov (http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/fightfinder.asp?fighterID=324) at PRIDE 10.

Mazzulli declined to cite specific reasons for Kerr's suspension. However Kerr's agent Ken Pavia indicated previously that high blood pressure was to blame.

Also suspended following the event's cancellation was UFC veteran Edwin Dewees (http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/fightfinder.asp?fighterID=720) (Pictures (http://www.sherdog.com/news/picture_gallery.asp?f_id=720@@Edwin%20Dewees)), who is barred from fighting for 14 days after having what Mazzulli labeled "dehydration issues."

Pavia, who also represents Dewees, stated the middleweight fighter cut approximately 14 pounds in two and a half hours.

"It's an unfortunate issue that occurred," said Mazzulli. "There was a minimum number of rounds that had to be met for the event to go on, and they were unable to meet that with the fights that were cancelled."
