HARDCORE CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHTING UPDATE

Hardcore Championship Fighting Signs Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
By Kelsey Mowatt

According to Hardcore Championship Fighting CEO, Keith Crawford, the Canadian MMA promotion has signed Pride veteran Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (12-3) to an exclusive 3 fight contract. During a taping for FCF Radio this afternoon, Crawford confirmed that HCF had signed the highly regarded light-heavyweight fighter.

“Today we’ve announced the signing of Antonio Rogerio Nogueira,” Crawford said. “Minotoro of course the nickname that’s the smaller brother, the 205 pound Nogueira, to get a gentlemen with his Pride experience and fight experience under exclusive contract to us is huge for us, and huge for MMA in Canada. We’re hoping his first fight will be in November in Vancouver, as one of our main-events, or semi-main-events, on the Vancouver card. Either way we are ecstatic to have him under our banner.”

In Nogueira, HCF adds yet another notable Pride veteran to its upcoming schedule, as the promotion announced earlier this month that Aleksander Emelianenko will take on Wesley Correira at HCF’s upcoming October 19th card in Calgary, Alberta. Nogueira, who is currently ranked 8th in the world at 205 lbs. by FCF, is 3-2 in his last five fights. The Brazilian fighter holds victories over such notable fighters like Dan Henderson, Kazushi Sakuraba, and Alistair Overeem (twice) throughout his 6 year career, with his only losses thus far coming to Vladimir Matyushenko, Mauricio Rua and most recently, Thierry Sokoudjou.

No opponent or date has yet been finalized for Nogueira’s HCF debut, however, according to Crawford, the promotion has several dates on hold in Vancouver throughout the month of November.

The complete FCF Radio interview with Crawford will be available for download later today.
