The long awaited match-up between Kimbo Slice and Tank Abbott will finally take place as the main event of the next EliteXC card slated for Feb. 16 according to Sam Caplan, editor at ProElite.com.
After a highly publicized background featuring multiple street fights, which made him an Internet legend, Kimbo made his official MMA debut in November at the last EliteXC event, defeating Bo Cantrell in 19 seconds by TKO.
The fight between Kimbo and Abbott was originally set to take place as part of the Cage Fury Fighting Championship promotion in New Jersey in October, but due to financial problems the promotion canceled the event and the fight never happened.
Now it appears Abbott has signed a deal that will put him in EliteXC for at least this fight with Kimbo as the headline fight for the event.
The promotion also announced that newly signed EliteXC middleweight Scott Smith will make his debut against Kyle Noke, who made an impressive debut of his own defeating Seth Kleinbeck in November.
EliteXC also announced that the card would feature Antonio Silva and James Thompson in separate bouts, as well as the return of female MMA sensation Gina Carano. No official match-ups for any of the aforementioned fighters have been named yet.
