‘His style is so hard to prepare for’
It seems the Brazilian Lyoto Machida really is gaining space among the best fighters in his category. Besides the praise heaped on him for his win at UFC 79 over Cameroonian Thierry Sokodjou, the karateka undefeated in MMA has been gaining the respect of many important people in the field. At a press conference after the bout on the 29th, the Brazilian of a Japanese father was already thinking big when asking that his next adversary be a big name in the American scene.
The fighters named were Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell, two MMA stars that could, in the event of a win, clear the way for Lyoto to dispute the title. John Hackleman, Chuck Liddell’s coach, considered one of the best in the world of MMA, doesn’t seem to have fancied the idea too much.
“He’s one of the guys I’d least like to fight. Not for his toughness or anything. It’s just his style is so hard to prepare for. I knew he would beat "The African Assassin" (Sokodjou). He’s so boring, but he’s like the Larry Holmes of MMA. He’ll f----- beat everyone. Machida is a scary guy. He's going to be a hard guy to beat,” said Hackleman to the site Fighthype.
hoop wel dat die wedstrijd er van komt na ortiz..
