Two of the top contenders from last season’s “Ultimate Fighter” show are set to square off on July 19 as former finalist Jesse Taylor will get his shot in the Ultimate Fighting Championship after all, as he faces the man who took his place in the finale, Arizona Combat Sports stand-out C.B. Dollaway.

MMAWeekly.com confirmed the bout with sources close to the fight on Wednesday.

While he may one day erase his past mistakes with future endeavors, for now Jesse Taylor is remembered as the fighter who ruined his chances at becoming the winner of the seventh season of “The Ultimate Fighter” when a drunken tirade around Las Vegas got him booted off the show by UFC president Dana White.

White commented to Yahoo’s Kevin Iole that since the show ended, Taylor has enrolled with Alcoholic’s Anonymous and gotten his act together enough to warrant his return to the UFC.

Taylor looked very impressive during his time on the show, defeating fighters such as Mike Dolce, Dante Rivera and Tim Credeur. With the win over Credeur he earned a shot to take on eventual winner, Amir Sadollah, but his antics after the show finished filming cost him a chance at that fight.

Now he returns to face the fighter who hand picked him as an opponent during the semifinals on the show, C.B. Dollaway. While the former Arizona State wrestler didn’t get his wish on the show, he will get his chance against Taylor on July 19.

Dollaway was the largely considered the odds on favorite to win season seven of The Ultimate Fighter, but instead he ran into his own version of kryptonite named Amir Sadollah.

The Virginia based fighter submitted Dollaway on the show to punch his ticket to the finale and then defeated him again on the show’s finale to become The Ultimate Fighter and earn a six-figure contract with the UFC.

Dollaway will look for redemption as he faces another former All-American wrestler in Jesse Taylor.

The two middleweights will do battle on the July 19 UFC Fight Night card headlined by UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva making his light heavyweight debut against James Irvin.

Jammer
