EliteXC Cancels Event Scheduled For Sept. 20

By Jason Perkins | August 16, 2008

http://images.fightline.com/pic/exc.jpgEliteXC has decided to cancel their upcoming event scheduled for September 20.
title match between Jake Shields and John Alessio will not happen due in part to an injury that Alessio recently sustained.
Shields has also been quite outspoken about wanting to take an undisclosed opportunity that he has to fight outside of the organization. EliteXC will now turn their attention to their upcoming CBS event set to take place on October 4.

slechte zaken daarzo...

Het lijkt erop dat Kimbo vecht op 4 oktober.

NBCSports.com - Aug. 2, 2008:

The inaugural CBS Saturday Night Fights broadcast in May reached more than 6.5 million viewers at its highest ratings period.

Last weekend, EliteXC returned to CBS and ratings dropped by almost 40 percent with a main event featuring a rematch of the Scott Smith-Robbie Lawler middleweight title fight that ended in a draw the first time around. In addition, only 3,701 fans paid to enter the Stockton Arena and watch the fights live. Both Carano and Slice will be back for the next show in hopes of a turnaround.

The event will take place at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla., a 22,000-seat venue.
