Golden Glory brings more heat to the island of Hawaii!!!
Golden Glory has a luxury problem!
Errol Zimmerman from Golden Glory won the K-1 Amsterdam GP earlier this year in April. Semmy Schilt keeps annihilating every opponent and has the best winning streak in K-1 history!
Golden Glory fighter Chalid Die Faust was suppose to fight in the Hawaii GP, but unfortunately didn’t end up making it. . Gokhan Saki was placed as a reserve fighter.
Chalid is a business man and now lives in Switzerland and Marbella, as Chalid applied for a Swiss passport ( which can take some time) he received an emergency passport from Germany. This passport is issued for only 1 year and you can travel every where without a visa except America.
Because of this visa issue (it became a problem), I travelled with Chalid to the American embassy in Frankfurt. Chalid already travelled twice in two weeks to Frankfurt, but still did not receive his visa. I went with Chalid, but even one day before departure, he was unable to the visa.
We left with the GG group and team Rebel to Hwaii, GG created another team, as there are to many top GG fighters according to K-1, which is understandable.
We took Stefan Leko with us to Hawaii in case Chalid could not get his visa within the next two days, we planned to get Stefan in the tournament.
One week for the tournament in Hawaii Aziz and Saki were sparring and Saki’s arm was cut in a sparring session. His arm got infected and Saki needed to take antibiotics for a week due to the infection he could not train anymore.
Leko just recovered from his surgery and could not really kick yet, so he came as a corner man and possibly fight in the reserve match.
Then the bad news came from Germany, Chalid was not able to get the visa in time for the Hawaii GP!
K-1 requested: If Saki could enter the tournament and we decided to take the chance with Saki although Saki had just recovered from an infection in his arm.
Stefan Leko got to fight in the reserve match and also Aziz Jah Jah was scheduled to fight against Paul Slowinsky in the K-1 superfight.
The reserve fight started with Stefan Leko vs Junior Sua from Hawaii / USA
Stefan made his comeback after his fight in January this year in Serbia, which he won by ko in round two. His opponent from Hawaii excepted the challenge and it showed why! Junior surprised everybody by knocking Stefan down after two minutes into to the fight. Stefan recovered by the count of 6 and the fight continued.
Now Stefan stopped playing games and knocks down his opponent with an uppercut hook combination. Then Stefan finishes his opponent with the second knock down and wins by KO. An exciting first round and a bit of rusty come back for Stefan! However he wasn’t exactly prepared to fight at this event. He will have his real come back soon.
In the interview for Fuji TV, Stefan said he will be ready for the September show in Korea and he will be able to kick again. Everyone get ready - the Blitz is back!!
Gokhan Saki entered the arena with true Hawaiian spirit! He wore a flower leis around his neck and a Hawaiian hat he got the crowed quickly on his site!
His opponent from Hawaii Deutsch Puu from Hawaii /USA must not have known what happened. Saki was just too fast and powerful for his Hawaiian opponent. Before the first round ended, Saiki landed vicious kicks on the inside of the thigh and then he followed up with a high kick. After that a low kick on the back leg and then a low kick on the front leg. The poor fighter from Hawaii received two eight counts but was unable to stand on his two legs after two minutes and 30 sec in the first round. Winner by KO in round 1 Gokhan Saki!!!!
The Second fight of the night Gokhan Saki faces the big American Rick Cheek (K-1 veteran from Las Vegas). Rick Cheek got the same treatment as Saki’s first opponent in his first fight. Low kicks, speedy low kicks and high kicks and sometimes a crazy fast and hard left hook. Cheek had to stay on the canvas ring under two minutes in the first round, as the low kick punishment became to much for Cheek, Saki finishes the fight with a perfect liver punch and knocks Cheek out!
The final match in the tournament was not Mighty Mo as he was badly injured from the first fight, the Korean fighter Randy Kim won his reserve fight and his second fight by KO. Saki entered the arena again with his crazy song that was huge hit with the Hawaiian audience. ( the song is now called the Saki song) and now when he entered the ring for the third time the audience was standing on the benches dancing and cheering!!. Saki stole the heart of the Hawaiian people and it looked like Saki was fighting for his home crowd in Holland. Saki started the first round with some kicks followed by some hard punches. Great combinations with intense speed and power coming from Saki which made the audience respond with a lot of OOOOS and AAAAHS.
In round two another trade mark of Saki hits target as his fierce left hook knocks Randy Kim down for the first 8 count in round two. With a real fighting heart the Korean continues the fight to only find himself later in a dream world when he receives another punching combination where another hook connects and caused a heavy KO for the fighter from Korea.
Winner of the Hawaiian K-1 GP 2008 Gokhan Saki!
Saki thanked his team, sparring partners, trainers and manager and said in his interview that he would be ready to fight anybody at the elimination tournament in Korea!!
Azizi Jah Jah made the fight of the night against Paul Slowinsky.
Both fighters made a slugfest from crazy proportions. In the first two rounds Aziz dominated and both fighters received eight counts in round 1 and 2. Then at the end of round two Aziz breaks his right hand from punching the rock - hard head of Slowinsky. In round three Aziz can not really use his favourite right hand anymore and now receives two eight counts himself and the fight was stopped. This fight for sure, was the most exiting fight of the night. He showed everyone that night he is an extremely talented fighter and has a big fighting heart with a great career a head of him. Aziz later told the press that he broke his hand in round two and gave the fight away in round three, but that he was very happy to fight in K-1 and he just needs a little more experience. This was an excellent fight and we are sure Aziz will be invited to fight in K-1 again after awesome performance!
For sure at the final eliminations in Korea; Semmy Schilt, Errol Zimmerman, Gokhan Saki and Ruslan Karaev and maybe a little wild card. It’s been a crazy busy these months for G.G and it is only getting crazier ! Golden Glory continues to shine brighter then ever!
Another great night of victories
