A bout pitting Jake O'Brien and Jon Jones against each other at UFC 100 in July has been inked. Multiple sources close to both fighters informed MMAWeekly.com on Saturday.

The bout reportedly marks O'Brien's move down to the light heavyweight class to face the undefeated Jones. The bout was initially reported by TheGarv.com.

Jones has been on a tear, immediately making a splash in the Octagon with successive wins over former IFLer Andre Gusmao and Ultimate Fighter alum Stephan Bonnar.

The win over Bonnar, in particular, opened some eyes. The three-round unanimous decision showed that Jones has the maturity as an athlete to go the distance, but not only that, he effectively dominated Bonnar through the majority of their fight. The win notched his overall record to 8-0 as a professional fighter.

Jones' exciting, aggressive style should prove to be a difficult first test for O'Brien at 205 pounds, although O'Brien should be the much bigger fighter having competed in the 230-240 pound range at heavyweight.

The move could give him new life, however, in the UFC. O'Brien has struggled a bit at heavyweight, attaining a respectable mark of 4-2 in the Octagon, but having difficulty finishing his opponents. He enters the bout with Jones coming off of a razor thin split decision victory over Christian Wellisch, a loss that sent the American Kickboxing Academy product out of the UFC to retool.

Officially announced by the promotion this week, UFC 100 is slated for July 11 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Though no bouts have been officially released by the UFC, speculation is that Georges St. Pierre will defend his UFC welterweight championship against Thiago Alves at UFC 100, as well as a likely heavyweight unification bout between champion Brock Lesnar and interim champ Frank Mir.
