The highly anticipated featherweight title rematch between current champion Mike Brown (http://www.mmauniverse.com/fighters/SS1314) and challenger Urijah Faber (http://www.mmauniverse.com/fighters/SS4289) has been officially announced by the network scheduled to broadcast the event.

Ariel Helwani of VERSUS.com (http://versus.com/) today confirmed the bout first reported by FiveOuncesOfPain.com (http://fiveouncesofpain.com/).

The bout will headline the June 7 World Extreme Cagefighting 41: Brown vs Faber 2 (http://www.mmauniverse.com/events/SS11456) event, set for the Arco Arena in Faber’s hometown of Sacramento, Calif.

The event has not yet been posted on the WEC's official website, and additional bouts and ticket information have not yet been released.

Brown defeated Faber in their first meeting, snapping a 13-fight win streak for "The California Kid" and earning the American Top Team fighter the WEC's featherweight crown. Brown has since defended the belt in first-round submission win over Leonard Garcia (http://www.mmauniverse.com/fighters/SS6427), running the new champion's own unbeaten streak to nine fights.

Faber bounced back from the loss with a first-round submission win of his own over MMA pioneer Jens Pulver (http://www.mmauniverse.com/fighters/SS2480).

While the WEC has several credible 145-pound challengers, Faber's dominance and marketability make him an obvious choice for a quick rematch.

While rumors had been swirling that the bout would mark the WEC's initial foray into the pay-per-view market, Helwani's report confirms the card will air on VERSUS.
