The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) recently issued its list of medical suspensions for UFC 98: “Evans vs. Machida,” which took place on Saturday, May 23 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
With several of the bouts ending early, there were quite a few fighters who were flagged follow up visits with their doctors, including Rashad Evans — who was put to sleep by an assault courtesy of Lyoto Machida — and Sean Sherk — who was outstruck for three rounds by Frank Edgar.
Xavier Foupa-Pokam will also need to give his melon a rest after Drew McFedries pounded on it en route to a brutal first round technical knockout. And Andre Gusmao didn’t get off easy either after going limp against Krzysztof Soszynski.
Here is the complete list of UFC 98 injuries and their medical instructions:

Rashad Evans: Suspended until July 23 with no contact until July 8.
Drew McFedries: Suspended until December 10 unless cleared by an orthopedic doctor following an X-ray on his right wrist.
Xavier Foupa-Pokam: Suspended until July 8 with no contact until June 23.
Sean Sherk: Suspended until July 8 with no contact until June 23.
Patrick Barry: Suspended until June 23 with no contact until June 14 or until December 10 unless cleared by an orthopedic doctor following an X-ray on his right foot.
Phillipe Nover: Suspended until June 23 with no contact until June 14.
Kyle Bradley: Suspended until December 10 unless cleared by an orthopedic doctor following an X-ray on his right hand.
Andre Gusmao: Suspended until July 23 with no contact until July 8.
Dave Kaplan: Suspended until June 23 with no contact until June 14.
Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases.
