Revenge is a profitable proposition if you’re Brock Lesnar.

The UFC’s polarizing heavyweight champion took home $400,000 for his seven-minute pummeling of Frank Mir at UFC 100 Saturday in Las Vegas. Lesnar was not awarded a win bonus, while Mir earned $45,000 and missed out on a $45,000 win purse.

Lesnar, who turned 32 on Sunday, smothered Mir on the mat and blasted him with continuous shots, negating any chance the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt had for a repeat submission like the one he snagged in their first encounter at UFC 81 last year.

Lesnar’s disclosed payday, one of the largest ever for the promotion, wasn’t his highest to date –- at least not on paper.

The 2000 NCAA champion earned $450,000 (including a $200,000 win bonus), along with the UFC heavyweight title, for his second-round technical knockout over the perennial Randy Couture at UFC 91 last November.

UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre earned every penny of his $400,000 bounty following a dominating five-round performance against Brazilian ace Thiago Alves in his second title defense.

The 28-year-old French Canadian battled through a significant groin injury sustained in the third round to control Alves with well-timed takedowns and intuitive counterpunching. Alves made $60,000 for his efforts.

Former Pride champion Dan Henderson was another big player at UFC 100, banking $350,000 (including a $100,000 knockout bonus) for his second-round knockout of Michael Bisping, who made $150,000 and missed out on an additional $100,000 in bonus pay.

On the undercard, Tom Lawlor dealt himself a full-house hand, as he banked $116,000 for his speedy 55-second guillotine finish over TUF 7 runner-up CB Dollaway, which included the promotion’s $100,000 submission bonus.

Lawlor took advantage of his inclusion on the UFC’s biggest card yet, homaging one early fan’s devotion to the sport by sporting “Just Bleed” on his chest at the weigh-ins.

On Saturday, Lawlor walked teammate Seth Petruzelli into the arena on a leash, the 1990s Baha Men hit “Who Let The Dogs Out” blaring in the background, eliciting great approval from the crowd.

Early estimates place UFC 100’s live gate at $5.1 million, just behind frontrunner UFC 66 “Liddell vs. Ortiz II,” which earned nearly $5.4 million in December 2006.

Lijkt me ook ja.... het is natuurlijk wel een beetje schraal om zo'n 10% te verdienen van wat je tegenstander krijgt terwijl je ook nog eens oud-kampioen bent.
