View Full Version : UFC Veteraan Kimo overleden

RIP! :(
Van cagewarriors:
the guy who posted the original report on mma.tv has trolled that forum hard in the past and has previously reported someone else dying when they hadnt, so i'd take it with a pinch of salt just now. If its really true, there will be substantiated reports popping up in the next few hours.
Van wikipedia: Kimo Leopoldo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kimo_Leopoldo)
On 21st July, 2009, Kimo passed away at the age of 41, in St. Francis Hospital in Costa Rica. It is suspected he suffered from a heart attack.[7]
Kimo... you love it, you hate it...

:whistling:

R.I.P
Kimo Leopoldo dead at 41 because of heart attack complications (http://mmamania.com/2009/07/21/kimo-leopoldo-dead-at-41-because-of-heart-attack-complications/)
By: MMAmania (http://mmamania.com/author/admin/)
http://mmamania.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/kimo.jpgMixed martial arts journeyman Kimo Leopoldo died last night from complications caused by a heart attack, according to several published reports. He was 41 years young.
The UFC veteran last competed inside the Octagon at UFC 48 in 2004, losing to Ken Shamrock via first round knockout (knee). He fared no better in the last performance of his career, which was a technical knockout loss to Wes Sims at Extreme Wars 5: “Battlegrounds” in 2006.
Kimo (10-7-1) is perhaps best known for wearing down Royce Gracie in a losing effort at UFC 3, thus allowing Nebraska police officer Steve Jennum his 15 minutes of fame.
Throughout his 12-year career, Kimo struggled with substance abuse. He tested positive for steroids several times, including after his last fight with Shamrock and prior to a scheduled bout against Bas Rutten at the World Fighting Alliance that never materialized.
Kimo — who made an unsuccessful bid to become the executive director of the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) — was also recently held by police for drug possession in Tustin, Calif., after authorities spotted the ex-fighter wearing a Long Beach Police Department jumpsuit complete with patches and a cloth badge.
It’s unclear at this time if drugs played any role in his untimely death or if it was due to natural causes. R.I.P. Kimo: Jan. 4, 1968 to July 20, 2009.

Leopoldo not dead, contrary to reports - UFC - Yahoo! Sports (http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news;_ylt=AkjxVebPLbX6p8LrDFpU4ec9Eo14?slug=ki-kimo072109&prov=yhoo&type=lgns)

The bad news is, we've been duped. The good news is, we can now resume making insensitive jokes about Kimo Leopoldo. Yes, it turns out that Kimo isn't really dead after all, or at the very least has been resurrected to walk the earth as some kind of terrifying zombie. Despite premature eulogies from the New York Daily News, the Orange County Register, and us, among many others, Leopoldo is said to be alive and reasonably well, though that's about as much information as anyone seems to have or need about him and his current whereabouts.
The whole thing is being chalked up to an internet prank spun out of control, which will probably prompt some hollow discussion on the nature and reliability of new media before we all move on the next nipple slip video, but in the meantime, imagine what Kimo must be feeling right now.
For a few hours even portions of the world that never knew or cared that he existed turned their eyes toward him, if only to capitalize on the search engine value of a headline featuring some combination of the words "UFC fighter" and "dead." Now that they know he's still alive they'll go back to ignoring him, and he'll have to reconcile himself with the strange feeling of finding out what people would have said about him if he had died today.
Considering how often drugs and his recent arrest were mentioned in all the stories floating around the internet this afternoon, it's probably not going to result in any kind of happy epiphany. Regardless, welcome back to the world of the living, Kimo. Ain't it something?

james brown is still alive
