K-1 held a press conference yesterday to announce a number of details for the big Dynamite!! show on December 31. This year’s event will take place at the Saitama Super Arena, and will once again be a stacked, 5+ hour, 18 fight card consisting of both K-1 and MMA.
The big fight announced so far is Masato’s retirement fight, planned to be against the K-1 MAX 2009 champion. This will still take place, and will be the main event of the evening, however Masato’s opponent may not be the MAX champion, as Masato indicated that he would like to fight Andy Souwer, a man he has never defeated. In one very interesting development for this fight, Tanigawa stated that the fight would perhaps not be the traditional 3 round K-1 fight, but could be 7 or even 10 rounds. An announcement regarding the main event will be made after the MAX finals.
In addition to Masato, other participants mentioned at the conference include Kazushi Sakuraba, Norifumi “KID” Yamamoto, Hideo Tokoro, Hayato “Mach” Sakurai, Minowaman, Shinya Aoki, Tatsuya Kawajiri, Hong-Man Choi, Badr Hari, and Jerome Le Banner. Look for the first preview video later this week
