Taishin Kohiruimaki, hoping for a chance at a rematch with Masato, is on the road to total recovery. On October 26th, he will face Drago in his first bout since he was injured. On the 19th he held an open training session for the press to show them that he's back in shape.

8 months since his last bout.

Kohiruimaki won the February MAX Japan tournament but due to injuries has been recovering since that time. But now he's back. "I lost confidence", he said talking about the difficulties of rehabilitation. During that time MAX's charismatic front-runner Masato announced his retirement.
"It's not that I didn't think about the news, but honestly, I had to worry about myself. The wish to recover outweighed the wish to fight."
It must have been tough for Kohi to be away from the ring, but he started to see the light at the end of the tunnel around August. After training restarted, he began to get his confidence back. "My leg was healed, and I was moving well. Once my body had improved I realized that I still have what it takes. Knowing that helped me get back in the game." Looking at the fighter's face, you can see that he believes what he says. Kohi is back and he's ready to kick some.

Hope for a rematch to give Masato a royal sendoff

"I hope to KO Drago with a nice finish and then they'll hopefully let me fight in Dynamite!!" Kohi said while talking about the upcoming match. And who does he wish to face at the New Year's event, but Masato, MAX's most popular fighter. "If Masato chooses me, I will fight him." They've been rivals since they competed in kickboxing and both helped make MAX the popular series that it is today. There is a link between them that only someone who has fought in there shoes could understand.

"Once I stop trying to become World Champion, it's time to retire."

Now Kohi is focused on taking out his upcoming opponent Drago, who is famous for being aggressive and keeping the pressure on in the ring. Kohi's answer? "I'll make the first move" he says promising a straightforward toe-to-toe battle. In practice, Kohi seems his old self with almost no evidence that he had been injured. Throwing kick after kick, special technique after special technique, Kohi shows that he's not fooling around and that he's 100%.
For the chance to face Masato, first he must defeat Drago and show the world that he's back and he's better than ever before
