Quoteworthy:

"Brock was in big pain, he was hurting.... We don’t know if he’ll ever fight again. He had a hole in his intestine. The (stuff) was leaking into his stomach. That’s what was causing him so much pain. That and he had abscesses. The doctor told him he hasn’t been right for a year. His immune system has been trying to fight this thing and that’s why he was susceptible to getting sick.... We’ll find out more next week. We’re going to send him to the Mayo Clinic for a couple of days. I don’t know what to say. It’s looking better now than last week, but what that means, I don’t know."
UFC President Dana White provides a sobering update on the condition of heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar, and how it could affect his professional mixed martial arts career moving forward. He's now out of the hospital recovering; however, as we passed along yesterday, he is still "not out of the woods." The good news is that the worst appears to be over and that he can now focus on getting healthy again. Lesnar is scheduled to visit the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., "early next week for a battery of tests." Stay tuned ...

Over de gevolgen van anabolen op de ingewanden doen een hoop indianenverhalen de ronde maar gedegen onderzoek is er nog niet naar verricht.

Maar een geval als dit geeft natuurlijk te denken.

UFC: Lesnar recuperating from illness at home
By Neil Davidson, THE CANADIAN PRESS

LAS VEGAS - Brock Lesnar is back home in Minnesota recuperating from surgery with a more positive prognosis for the future, according to his coach.

Lesnar was released from hospital Tuesday after treatment for a bacterial infection in his intestine.

"He's at home now, much better than he was," Lesnar's coach Greg Nelson, head instructor at the Minnesota Mixed Martial Arts Academy, said Wednesday. "He was in a lot of pain, obviously dealing with a lot of different medicines dealing not only the pain but also for the infection."

The prognosis is more positive, said Nelson.

"Definitely, he's feeling better. He's at home, that's where he wants to be."

Nelson said there was "no definitive answer" yet whether Lesnar would require surgery in the future.

"We'll see and if he does, he'll obviously go to a good place," Nelson said, "because obviously his goal is to get back and get back in the cage."

UFC president Dana White told Yahoo that Lesnar had a hole in his intestine and is slated to go to the Mayo Clinc next week for tests. His fighting future remains up in the air, the UFC boss said.

That happens if you are angry all the time...
Hope that he gets better anyway...

Dus waarschijnlijk is z'n professionele carriere over.
