It's official, dude is signed with Strikeforce and it looks like his next opponent may be Robbie Lawler at Strikeforce: Evolution this month. Check out the press release from Strikeforce.
NEW YORK (December 2, 2009)- DREAM and K-1 powerhouse Melvin "No Mercy" Manhoef has signed a multi-year agreement to compete for world championship mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion STRIKEFORCE.
The 33 year old, who hails from Amsterdam, Netherlands, comes to STRIKEFORCE after reaching the semifinal round of the 2008 DREAM Middleweight (185 pounds) Grand Prix tournament by scoring first round TKOs on Dae Won Kim and legendary champion Kazushi Sakuraba on May 11, 2008 and June 15, 2008 respectfully.
His well-known battle cry "When I fight, I am willing to die" has translated into Manhoef's explosive style of fighting, one that has helped him earn 22 of his 30 career MMA wins and 27 of his 45 career kickboxing victories by way of knockout.
On February 26, 2005, Manhoef initiated his best run to date, a 10 fight win streak in MMA competition, by stopping Matthias Riccio at Cage Rage 10 in London, England with a series of strikes in the first round (3:01).
Alright so who's left for Strikeforce to sign in their middleweight division? I know his first name begins with 'Dan' and his last name ends with 'Henderson'.

Longtime K-1 kickboxer and veteran MMA fighter Melvin Manhoef has signed a multi-year deal with Strikeforce that's exclusive to the U.S.
Strikeforce executive Mike Afromowitz today confirmed the signing with MMAjunkie.com (http://www.mixfight.nl/) , though exact terms of the deal were not disclosed.
And though Afromowitz said the organization plans to have Manhoef make his promotional debut sooner rather than later, he couldn't confirm AOL Fanhouse (http://mma.fanhouse.com/2009/12/02/melvin-manhoef-signs-with-strikeforce/)'s report that the newcomer could fight Robbie Lawler at the Dec. 19 "Strikeforce: Evolution" event.
"We just signed him," Afromowitz said. "We just got it done."
The 33-year-old Manhoef, who owns a 23-6-1 MMA record and 37-8 kickboxing record, has recently competed for the Japanese-based DREAM organization, which has an alliance with Strikeforce. Manhoef posted a five-fight win streak in MMA from 2007 to mid-2008, but he's gone just 1-2 since then with submission losses to Gegard Mousasi and Paulo Filho and an 18-second KO win over Mark Hunt.
In fact, of Manhoef's 23 career wins, a staggering 22 have come via knockout. Only European fighter Bob Schreiber took Manhoef to a decision (at a June 2005 event in the Netherlands).
The signing adds depth to Strikeforce's still-growing 205-pound division, which was previously ruled by Renato "Babalu" Sobral. However, Mousasi recently topped the UFC veteran for the organization's light heavyweight title. Today's signing could set up an eventual rematch.
Manhoef, who's also competed as a middleweight and heavyweight, made his pro MMA debut nearly 14 years ago. The Dutch fighter began his pro kickboxing career just a few months later.

Dit is mooi nieuws! Hopen dat hij indruk kan maken bij Strikeforce en dan misschien door naar de UFC. Of lekker bij Strikeforce blijven als die mooie matchups voor hem blijven neerzetten.

p.s. Manhoef is al eens een keer benaderd door de UFC.
Ik wist dit al. Op Glory had Melvin al het een en ander door laten schemeren en dit is echt super. Ik ben blij dat het nu officieel is en Strikeforce wordt met de dag intressanter.

Dat vind ik weer juist niet!
Ik vindt ze beide super.
Maar zodra het een staand gevecht wordt ga Diaz ongetwijfeld het canvas kussen in een diepe slaap.
Zodra het naar de grond gaat is het direct een pot die diaz met bijna 80 procent kan winnen of manhoef moet er gooie stoot door krijgen ik zie hem zelfs wel iemand k.o van onderop:D

Manhoef bij Strikeforce, aight.
Maar ik heb wel dingen gehoord dat Manhoef het afwees om bij de UFC te komen vanwege contract voorwaarden, hij mag dan natuurlijk geen K-1 wedstrijden meer doen als hij bij UFC signed.
Dus ik vraag me af of we dat nog ooit zien gebeuren, maar goed hopen kan altijd.

strike force is perfect voor manhoef. hoop wel dat hij zich dan alleen met z'n take down defence bezig gaat, en zich alleen concentreert op worstelen. Anders heeft hij weinig kands tegen de topers van strike force. Staand gaan ze echt niet met hem aan ook geen Smit, lawler of Diaz.Zou mooi zijn als hij daar een paar potten kan breken

Ook mooi nieuws! Had dit nog niet gehoord, maar zag zoiets in de topic over Yvel in de UFC staan... Gaat de goede kant op! Op naar Hollandse world domination :)
