M-1Global offers opportunities for fighters around the globe in 2010
2010 will be the biggest year yet for M-1 Global with a new and exciting array of events and competitions that will thrill MMA fans in every country around the world. Building on a 14-year tradition in the sport, M-1 Global’s mission of identifying and developing the best fighters in the world is taking on a whole new meaning and focus. With over 25 events planned for 2010, M-1 Global’s goal of showcasing the worlds best up and coming fighters is alive and well.
M-1Global is now seeking fighters from around the world to participate in it’s 2010 series of events. Perspective fighters are encouraged to download our 2010 information booklet (http://www.m-1global.com/v2/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/booklet-m1-2010.pdf), as well as an application which will allow you to be considered for participation (http://www.m-1global.com/v2/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/application-form.pdf) in said events.
M-1 Global has created a tiered system of competitions for 2010 that will provide a platform for young fighters to begin
with M-1 at the bottom of the “pyramid” and grow in the sport in the hopes of becoming great M-1 Champions like
Fedor Emelianenko and Gegard Mousasi.
The M-1 Selection events around the world will provide the entry point for young
fighters. The most successful fighters in the M-1 Selection will move up to M-1’s elite M-1 Challenge and join with seasoned fighters in a continent versus continent tournament to determine worldwide bragging rights.
The stars of the M-1 Challenge will move to the M-1 Breakthrough shows- a series of events for those fighters on the verge of elite status in the sport. From there, fighters can move to the top of the pyramid - to a new co-promotion in the United States with STRIKEFORCE.
M-1 Selection
M-1 Selection was originally conceived as a competition to find the best Russian fighters to represent Russia in the M-1 Challenge. The success of the M-1 Selection in Russia led to its worldwide expansion in 2010.
M-1 Selection events are now used to discover the best fighters from around the globe. In 2010, M-1 Selection events will take place in the Americas, Russia, Europe and Asia. Fourty fighters will begin the M-1 Selection process on each continent in a single elimination tournament. The winners in each of the five weight classes will represent their continent in the M-1 Challenge.
M-1 Challenge
The M-1 Challenge is a team versus team competition with fighters representing their continent. In its first two seasons, the M-1 Challenge was organized as a country versus country tournament. By reformatting teams by continent, the best
fighters can participate in the M-1 Challenge, regardless of their home country.
The 2010 M-1 Challenge will feature eight teams, representing four continents, with each continent having two teams: Europe, Russia, Americas and Asia. Four teams come from the M-1 Selection events and four teams are selected featuring
veteran MMA fighters.
M-1 Breakthough
In 2009, M-1 Global introduced its Breakthrough events which feature the best talents from the M-1 Challenge competing against recognized fighters from around the world.
In these events, the best fighters from the M-1 stable can compete against top fighters worldwide and against each other.
In 2010, M-1 Global will introduce titles by weight category, with the owner of the belt recognized as M-1 Global’s best prospect. M-1 Global’s fight roster consists of more than 100 fighters, so each title fight will be hotly contested. The M-1 Breakthrough events are the logical next step for fighters to show the world they are ready to fight on the big stage.
