In a couple of days Mirko is going to Amsterdam for a three week training cycle with Ivan Hyppolite.


The rare days Mirko is not training he spends time in his home town in Privlaka.

"Spending time there is the best cure for any stress" says Mirko.


Even though retirement looked to be near after the loss to Dos Santos it looks like we'll be seeing Filipovic at least 3 times in 2010.
If he wins against Rotwell we could see him against Velasquez or Nogueira in May or June.

Mirko has been hiding his passion for studying history from the public eye.

He has built quite collection of history books over the years. Lately he started visiting the places he loves to read about.


A few months ago he visited Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz with his friends.


"Should I win against Rothwell I'd like treat myself with another trip. I've always wanted to see the Egyptian pyramids.

If only they allowed me to climb the top...."

Hopelijk kan hij nog enkele wins uit zijn mouw schudden.

Of tenminste een beetje tegenstand bieden aan zijn tegenstander ipv wegduwen.
Ik denk dat hij vooral mentaal moet klaar zijn. Fysiek en technisch is hij dat al jaren.

Dat hij niet goed is op de grond speelt volgens mij minder een rol. Zijn takedown defense is zo goed dat dit in combinatie met zijn uitzonderlijke striking skills voldoende zou moeten zijn om door de HW division te stormen zoals hij in de Pride GP gedaan heeft.

Maar hij moet natuurlijk zijn killerinstinct terug krijgen en niet denken aan vistripjes terwijl hij in de ring (octagon) staat.

Ik gun het hem van harte en hoop dat hij nog een jaar voor vuurwerk kan zorgen. Al vrees ik er een beetje voor.
