Riddum exclusive: UFC to hold a second event in Germany by the end of 2010, possibly in November

UFC 122 will take place Nov. 13 at Konig Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany. The event may not be available on German television if the UFC can’t work things out with broadcasting officials there, but it will be available to the U.S. market on a six-hour, same-day delay on Spike TV. The news was first reported by MMAJunkie.com and independently confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the event.

"We are doing a show," UFC president Dana White said earlier this year about returning to Germany in 2010. "One thing we don't do, we don't back down, and we don't curl up and climb into the closet when things don't go (our way). We're going to come out, guns a-blazing, and we're going to keep going."

UFC programming was pulled from television networks in Germany because officials said the "extent of violence shown to be unacceptable."

White won’t be deterred, however.

"Our job is to build the sport. We're not going to stop. Not getting TV isn't going to stop us; we're going to keep going. We can't get into Ontario; we're opening an office there. It doesn't bother us."

The sport itself was actually banned from broadcast altogether in Germany in March 2010 due to "extent of violence shown to be unacceptable.
"Regardless, UFC plans to combat the opposition, after stating: "Not getting TV isn't going to stop us; we're going to keep going. We can't get into Ontario; we're opening an office there. It doesn't bother us."

Dennis Siver and Kris McCray are expected to compete at this event.

Helaas zit de Duitse politiek weer tegen te stribbelen door een verbied in te stellen op het uitzenden van het evenement op de Duitse TV zender DSF.
Dana White heeft vandaag gezegd dat hij zich niet laat tegenhouden door deze actie. Met of zonder TV deal UFC komt naar Duitsland eind dit jaar.
Dana White:

UFC werd vorig jaar uitgezonden om DSF maar omdat veel mensen het te agressief vonden werd er een verbod ingesteld om het uitzenden van UFC tegen te gaan.

Er is in Duitsland een hele sterke bokslobby. Die lui zien wereldwijd de interesse in MMA toenemen. Logisch dat juist die mensen gaan klagen. Zo zo zijn er ook veel klachten uit Duitsland binnengekomen bij de Franse regering toen Eurosport MMA ging uitzenden. Eurosport is een Franse zender en volgens de Franse wet is (was?) MMA VERBOTEN!
