UFC 122 SLATED FOR RETURN TO GERMANY
UFC 122 will take place Nov. 13 at Konig Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany. The event may not be available on German television if the UFC can’t work things out with broadcasting officials there, but it will be available to the U.S. market on a six-hour, same-day delay on Spike TV. The news was first reported by MMAJunkie.com and independently confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the event.
"We are doing a show," UFC president Dana White said earlier this year about returning to Germany in 2010. "One thing we don't do, we don't back down, and we don't curl up and climb into the closet when things don't go (our way). We're going to come out, guns a-blazing, and we're going to keep going."
UFC programming was pulled from television networks in Germany because officials said the "extent of violence shown to be unacceptable."
White won’t be deterred, however.
"Our job is to build the sport. We're not going to stop. Not getting TV isn't going to stop us; we're going to keep going. We can't get into Ontario; we're opening an office there. It doesn't bother us."
"Some people have so much respect for their superiors
they have none left for themselves."
"Some people have so much respect for their superiors
they have none left for themselves."
This will be the UFC's second event in Germany and second in mainland Europe. The sport has been met with severe criticism by German media, which led to the banning of minors from the first German UFC event (UFC 99).
The sport itself was actually banned from broadcast altogether in Germany in March 2010 due to "extent of violence shown to be unacceptable.
"Regardless, UFC plans to combat the opposition, after stating: "Not getting TV isn't going to stop us; we're going to keep going. We can't get into Ontario; we're opening an office there. It doesn't bother us."
Dennis Siver and Kris McCray are expected to compete at this event.
Bouts currently reported to be in the works for the event include:
- Vitor Belfort vs. TBA
- Amir Sadollah vs. Peter Sobotta
- Krzysztof Soszynski vs. Goran Reljic
- Pascal Krauss vs TBA
"Some people have so much respect for their superiors
they have none left for themselves."
mooi jaartje 2010.
vind het tot nu toe niet echt een spetterende line up, ik wil niets liever dan naar ufc in duitsland maar om hiervoor 100 euro te betalen? ik twijfel nog...
Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to the Shogun Era
pfff.... achja, ales beter dan Bisping-Akiyama....
Fedor - Mousasi - GSP - Aoki - Hellboy - Cigano - Alvarez - Wicky - Diaz - Kitaoka
Signature bet record: 2-0
The card is not official yet and the match ups are going to be given after the next UFC.
We might see Crocop vs Big Country
Vitor Belfort
Nate Diaz vs Marcus Davis
and some more fights
Rivara vs Sakara is ook mooie pot op papier hoor.... maar UFC 99 was qua namen tot nu to duidelijk heavy 'er
"Some people have so much respect for their superiors
they have none left for themselves."
Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to the Shogun Era
And the next matchup...

Vitor Belfort refuses to fight abroad, as the UFC tune-up a Silva vs Sonnen rematch for late DecemberPosted By Anton_Gurevich UFC News
It looks like the uncertainty around who will be Anderson Silva's next opponent, finally clears up. Self-proclaimed number one contender for a shot at Silva's title, Vitor Belfort, recently revealed to Sherdog.com that he refused to participate in UFC's Germany event (UFC 122), claiming that he's too tired traveling from one country to another. Belfort also wrote a message on his Twitter account, promising that he will still fight in November (probably UFC 123 on Nov. 20th), not against Chael Sonnen:
“I talked to Lorenzo (Fertitta) this week and will return in November. I just asked him to not be (on the November card in Germany). I’m tired of traveling. I would like to return to fighting here in America. According to my conversation with Lorenzo, my opponent will not be Sonnen, but another guy that will be decided soon.
With the help of Shawn Tompkins, Ray Sefo and all the partners here, I hope to reach my best shape soon. I am eager to return to my training routine as well as very happy here.”
Less than 24 hours after Vitor Belfort's message on Twitter, LA Times Journalist Lance Pugmire stated that the Ultimate Fighting Championship are currently lining up a New Year's Eve or SuperBowl rematch between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen. If true, this means that Vitor Belfort will square off against Yushin Okami, in what seems like a legit #1 Contender fight for the shot at the UFC Middleweight Title.
