FEG has revealed that the K-1 World MAX -70kg Tournament Final 16 and -63kg Japan Tournament Finals will be held together on July 5th at the Yoyogi Stadium 1st in Tokyo.

Announced participants so far for the -70kg Final 16 are Yoshihiro Sato, Albert Kraus and K-1 World MAX 2010 Japan tournament champion Yuichiro "Jienotsu" Nagashima.

All eleven winners from May 2 first round of the 63kg Japan Tournament are listed to be participating on the card despite there being only eight spots available or 10 with a reserve match.

K-1 Producer Sadaharu Tanikawa has stated that participants in the final eight were to be selected based on fan opinion and their performance in the opening rounds.

The 63kg portion of the card is listed as the "Final" of the GP meaning that we will see an eight-man, one-night tournament rather than the four-man, one-night tournaments that we currently see in the 70kg MAX Finals.

If the Final 16 for 70kg and the Final 8 for 63kg are both to be held on the one night, it would make for at least a 17-fight card if there is a reserve match. K-1 cards generally feature at least one superfight also, and with that, the card is starting to look too big.

Given television restrictions, more likely is that half of the 70kg Final 16 will be held on this card in Japan and the other half on a European event. The fact that many of the 70kg stars such as reigning champion Giorgio Petrosyan are not yet listed for this card would support this theory.
