Remember when Gegard Mousasi was on a 15-fight win streak, was knocking and tapping fools out left, right and center and everyone was calling him the next Fedor? That was awesome.

Then King Mo came along, laid Mousasi on his back and peppered him with more non-committal shots to the face than Jenna Jameson took in her heyday for the majority of their 25-minute fight.

While he isn't necessarily a better fighter, Mo, who is regarded by anyone who has spoken at length with him about the sport as an MMA savant, executed the perfect game plan to beat Mousasi. In his next fight against Rafael Cavalcante...not so much.

The problem with Strikeforce's paper-thin light heavyweight division is that they have all but run out of contenders.

It appears that we aren't the only ones who think so.

*Scott Coker, I'm looking at you.*

According to Mousasi in the above interview he did with Middleeasy during last weekend's Strikeforce show, he may get the next shot at Cavalcante's strap, (which he only gave up ownership of to Lawal in May of this year ) without logging a win in Strikeforce since dropping the unanimous decision to Mo.

Although he says the fight isn't definite and didn't give a date, it would make sense to have the bout on the December 4 since it would give Feijao his third fight of the year and would give the St. Louis --which is currently slated to be headlined by a Dan Henderson vs. Renato Sobral light heavyweight showdown -- a title fight.

Mousasi also mentioned during the brief clip that he might be taking on judo superstar-turned MMA fighter, Satoshi Ishii at the K-1 Dynamite! New Year's Eve show. Ishii publicly called out Kazushi Sakuraba for the event, but the bout was never finalized.

    tegen Ishii zou geweldig zijn...

Zowel tegen Ishii als voor de SF titel zou geweldig zijn. Blij als hij van dat Mo stigma af is daar. WAR Gegard!

ps... Wanneer schrijft Gegard weer eens een column?
