Daniel Roberts says he's fighting Claude Patrick at UFC 129

Streaking UFC welterweight contender Daniel Roberts (12-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) announced late Saturday night that he'll be fighting in Toronto.

"Ninja" announced on his Twitter account that the UFC has tapped him to face Canadian Claude Patrick (13-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) at UFC 129.

Patrick's camp was not immediately available to confirm the booking when contacted by MMAjunkie.com.

UFC 129 takes place April 30 at Rogers Centre in Toronto and features a welterweight title fight between current champion Georges St-Pierre and top contender Jake Shields.

Roberts enters the matchup on a three-fight win streak. A teammate of Shields, Roberts suffered a knockout loss to John Howard in his March 2010 octagon debut but has since bounced back with victories over Greg Soto, Mike Guymon and Forrest Petz. The victory over Soto is his most recent and came at this past week's "UFC 125: Resolution" event.

Roberts' win over Guymon was UFC 121's "Submission of the Night."

Meanwhile, Patrick fights for the first time since an October 2010 win over James Wilks at UFC 120. "The Prince" was also victorious in his octagon debut, defeating Ricardo Funch via submission at this past June's UFC 115 event.

Patrick sports a 12-fight win streak overall and has not tasted defeat since a June 2002 loss to Drew McFedries.

Shields krijgt GSP nooit naar de grond. Staand krijgt ie ros. En George is zelf ook geen beginner op de grond zeg maar.

Randy Couture vs. Lyoto Machida Set for UFC 129

NEW YORK -- Randy Couture will indeed fight at least one more time in the octagon, as his rumored UFC 129 fight against Lyoto Machida is a go, according to UFC president Dana White, who told MMA Fighting the matchup is a "done deal."

MMA Fighting originally reported the possibility of the fight in the hours after UFC 125, though at the time, sources said the fight was not "not even close" to being finalized.

Now, White says it's a go for the growing mega-card in Toronto.

Couture last fought at UFC 118 in Boston, beating James Toney, but afterward, the 47-year-old seemed to indicate that he would look to bolster his acting resume as he looked towards the future and past MMA.

UFC 129 will be the promotion's maiden voyage to the recently sanctioned province of Ontario, and will take place at the massive Rogers Centre.

The event will host a welterweight championship fight between Georges St. Pierre and challenger Jake Shields, and might also have a featherweight title defense from champion Jose Aldo, if Mark Hominick could get past George Roop at the upcoming Jan. 22 UFC Fight for the Troops event.

Daar zeg je me wat man... GSP heeft wel weer even iets nodig om het beest in hem wakker te maken. Veelste veilig de laatste jaren gaat allang niet meer voor de kill.

Nate Diaz vs. Rory MacDonald Slated for UFC 129

An intriguing welterweight fight between Nate Diaz and Canada's Rory MacDonald has been slated for UFC 129 in Toronto, MMA Fighting has learned from sources close to the fight.

UFC 129, which will be headlined by Georges St-Pierre vs. Jake Shields for the UFC welterweight title, will take place at the Rogers Centre on April 30. The card will be the organization's first in Toronto.

Diaz (13-6) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Dong Hyun Kim at UFC 125 earlier this month. That defeat marked his first since moving up to 170 pounds. Prior to the loss, the 25-year-old Diaz went 2-0 as a welterweight.

The 21-year-old MacDonald (10-1) hasn't been seen since he lost his first professional fight to Carlos Condit at UFC 115 last June. He was supposed to compete at UFC 123 against Brian Foster, but an injury forced him to pull out of the fight. Since the Condit loss, he has moved to Montreal to train with St-Pierre and the rest of the team at the Tristar Gym.

Other fights scheduled for UFC 129 include Randy Couture vs. Lyoto Machida and Phil Davis vs. Matt Hamill.

Nate Diaz vs. Rory MacDonald official for UFC 129 in April

An intriguing matchup between welterweights Nate Diaz (13-6 MMA, 8-4 UFC) and Rory MacDonald (10-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) is official for UFC 129.

UFC brass today officially announced the matchup, which was previously reported by MMAjunkie.com .

UFC 129 takes place April 30 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto and features a welterweight title bout between reigning champ Georges St-Pierre and challenger Jake Shields.

MacDonald was originally expected to face James Wilks, but the Brit was forced to bow out due to injury.

Diaz saw a successful run at welterweight come to a halt when he was out-grappled and outworked by Dong Hyun Kim at UFC 125. Prior to the loss, he handily dispatched Marcus Davis and Rory Markham.

The mean-mugging fighter ran into a similar wall during his time in the lightweight class. After winning "The Ultimate Fighter 5," he racked up five straight wins before a 1-3 stretch against the division's top talent. A loss this past January to Gray Maynard was the last straw, and he announced his move upward shortly thereafter.

MacDonald, a fast-rising Canadian prospect who submitted veteran Mike "Joker" Guymon in his early-2010 UFC debut, recently suffered his first career loss with a third-round TKO defeat to contender Carlos Condit at UFC 115. MacDonald then was slated to fight Matt Brown at UFC 123 but was forced off the card with a knee injury.

The former King of the Cage champ looks for his 11th stoppage in 11 career wins.

With the addition, UFC 129 now includes:

    MAIN CARD

    • Champ Georges St-Pierre vs. Jake Shields (for welterweight title)
    • Champ Jose Aldo vs. Mark Hominick (for featherweight title)
    • Phil Davis vs. Matt Hamill
    • Randy Couture vs. Lyoto Machida
    • Mark Bocek vs. Ben Henderson
    PRELIMINARY CARD
    • Nate Diaz vs. Rory MacDonald
    • Brian Foster vs. Sean Pierson
    • Pablo Garza vs. Yves Jabouin
    • Claude Patrick vs. Daniel Roberts
    • Ivan Menjivar vs. Charlie Valencia
    • Jason MacDonald vs. Ryan Jensen
    • John Makdessi vs. Kyle Watson

Echt vette card.

Ben heel benieuwd hoe Machida vs Couture gaat gaan.
