Ik snap dat mensen wat zorgen hebben. Maar ik denk dat dit voor de fans goed nieuws is.

Er zijn zat alternatieven naast UFC/SF, en het is een kwestie van vraag en aanbod hoeveel geld ze kunnen bieden.

Het enige echt zorgelijke is, naar mijn idee, het contact van de vechters naar de fans toe. Dat zal misschien later moeilijker worden door dingen die de UFC de vechters oplegt. Zo kunnen interviews moeilijker worden, bijvoorbeeld. Goed, we gaan het zien...

Er valt niets op te kopen. Hoe ga je een gevaar zijn. Puur uit eigen stal heb je niet genoeg. Nu kan je nog een aantal free agents optrommelen en mogelijk wat jongens uit Strikeforce voor leuke gevechten. Als "business as usual" periode voorbij is dan gaat Strikeforce (als dat dan nog als brand bestaat) ook over op een strikte je vecht neit buiten de Strikeforce/Zuffa stal. Wat zeer jammer is trouwens.

Het is zakelijk gezien een geniale move. Je hebt nu ook alle vechters strak in 1 organisatie waardoor er wat droom partijen mogelijk zijn. HEt is wel slecht nieuws voor de Josh barnett's onder ons.

Normaal gesproken zeg je dat concurrentie je scherp houd,dat je je op een bepaalde manier kan onderscheiden van je concurrenten door bepaalde dingen anders te doen/organiseren.Je kan dan mede bepalen hoe jij staat in de markt t.o.v. je concurenten.Deze overname slaat eigenlijk nergens op.Denk dat het voor de vechtsport niet goed is,zoveel macht/vechters bij 1 organisatie.Dit gaat op den duur ten koste van de vechters en daarnaast ook van ons,de fans.Maar over 2 jaar weten we pas werkelijk hoe en wat,dus op dit moment kunnen we alleen maar speculeren.Mag toch verwachten dat Dana ook een aardig marketingteam heeft wat alle stappen al heeft doorgenomen die eventueel gaan volgen.

Achja, hopen dat Bellator toch nog een soort van concurrentie gaat kunnen zijn.
Anders gaan de salarissen van vechters er wel onder leiden denk ik.

Niet alleen voor Josh Barnett, maar voor elke vechter. Hun onderhandelingspositie slinkt daardoor namelijk, omdat er geen behoorlijke alternatieve organisaties meer over zijn.

jake shields ,hendo wat ging dat allemaal makkelijk die onderhandelingen?

scot "we gaan de prijs voor jake niet opdrijven dus heb ik hem geen aanbod gedaan"

wel eens een promotie gezien die zonder bod zn kampioen weg geeft ?lol

als je geen ppv verkoopt mag je naar strikeforce ,lol

No Holds Barred: Rob Maysey of Mixed Martial Arts Fighters Association on Zuffa-Strikeforce Deal

On this edition of No Holds Barred, host Eddie Goldman speaks with Rob Maysey of the Mixed Martial Arts Fighters Association (MMAFA) (http://www.mmafa.tv).

The announcement Saturday, March 12, that Zuffa, the parent company of UFC, had purchased their strongest rival promotion, Strikeforce, has highlighted the absence of any type of fighter association in mixed martial arts. The MMAFA seeks to fill that role, and models itself on the Major League Baseball Players' Association and the Screen Actors Guild, in order to maximize the influence and earning capacity of its members in the sport of mixed martial arts.

We spoke late Sunday night with Rob Maysey about these major developments in mixed martial arts. We discussed what had actually happened with this purchase of Strikeforce by Zuffa, and how the previous co-owner of Strikeforce, Silicon Valley Sports & Entertainment, had decided to dump it. We discussed the role of Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker in these negotiations, what we expect Zuffa to do with Strikeforce, and what is next for other mixed martial arts organizations, including M-1 Global and Bellator. We also commented on what might happen with the American cable TV network Showtime, which still has a contract to telecast Strikeforce events, and the potential for another powerful rival mixed martial arts company to emerge under these conditions.

This new situation gives one promotional company, Zuffa, control of a very high percentage of top-ranked fighters in the world. We discussed the implications of the creation of this virtual monopoly both in terms of potential antitrust issues as well as the rights and compensation of fighters.

And we discussed the immediate need for fighters to utilize this present situation to organize themselves into their own association.

In 2001 Zuffa was contacted by childhood friend Dana White about purchasing the Ultimate Fighting Championship. They quickly took the opportunity, making the purchase a month later. Zuffa was immediately co-founded with brother Frank Fertitta III to establish an entity to manage the assets of the newly acquired Mixed Martial Arts promotion organization. In March 2007, Zuffa acquired the World Extreme Cagefighting (UFC's sister promotion), and Pride Fighting Championships. The UFC recently announced that their former sister promotion, World Extreme Cagefighting, will be absorbed by the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

wat een simpele redenatie, als je een bedrijf koopt, ben je direct de eigenaar van alle lopende contracten. In dat geval dus ook van alle GG vechters. Verder meldt Ali dat hij het geweldig nieuws vindt, leg eens uit dan?

In tegenstelling tot wat er eerst werd gezegd, zijn de super fights wel mogelijk. Vanaf nu, ik weet niet precies vanaf wel event, zullen ellebogen op de grond ook worden toegelaten in Strikeforce.
