Ben benieuwd naar shane carwin vs olaf einemo, dat heeft GG goed geregeld einemo heeft lang niet gevochten(2006 laatste keer volgens mij) maar toch regelen dst hij tegen carwin mag vechten probs !!!

Ze doen ook net alsof het zo'n 'huge card' is maar dat is het helemaal niet vind ik. Het is net alsof 'We hebben Lesnar in de main event', dus hij verkoopt toch wel.

Ik denk dat Dos Santos moeite gaat hebben om het gevecht staande te houden. En ik denk niet dat hij zo makkelijk omhoog springt tegen Lesnar als een van nature worstelaar als Velasquez deed (En ook trainde met worstelaars van niveau, Dos Santos in brazilie niet)

Ik snap niet echt wat Olav Einemo doet in zo'n gevecht, en ook nog in de co main event. Carwin heeft iedereen behalve Lesnar tot nu toe in pulp geslagen in de eerste ronde (Wat niet lukte bij brock omdat zijn voorarmen de grootte hebben van 2 minicoopers) En een BJJ specialist als Olav Einemo zal niet de takedown kwaliteiten hebben om een worstelaar als Carwin op de grond te krijgen. Carwin KO binnen 3 minuten. Maar het bewijst wel hoe dun bezaait de HW divisie is nu voor de merger.

UFC Refuses to Pay for Extra Policing at UFC 131

The UFC has turned down the Vancover Police Department's request to pay for extra policing around Rogers Arena on the night of UFC 131.

Tom Wright, UFC Canada's director of operations, informed MMA Fighting via e-mail that the he responded to the VPD on Thursday.

"I spoke with the VPD [Thursday] and advised them that we would not be funding any 'expanded police presence' for community areas in the general vicinity of the Rogers Arena," Wright wrote.

"I explained that while we remain supportive of law enforcement in every city we bring shows to, we weren't prepared to be 'treated differently' than other events/concerts/shows (Canucks, Rolling Stones etc). This is a particularly important consideration when 'incidents' at UFC events are typically fewer than other big events. As I explained, if I were the Chief I'd be more worried about Canuck fans (celebrating or crying in their beers) than UFC fans."

Late last month, police chief Jim Chu announced that the VPD had requested the UFC pay for extra policing because, according to a report in The Vancouver Courier, "residents complained of public drinking, rowdy drunks and public urination before and after the UFC event" held last June in Vancouver.

"We're going to talk to the promoters about paying for policing outside the venue in order to have extra patrols in the neighborhood to prevent what might occur in terms of neighborhood problems," Chu told the Courier. "Within a week or two before the event, we'll have a good idea of what we'll deploy within the stadium and outside."

The VPD didn't respond to a request for comment on the situation.

By all accounts, the UFC's first trip to Vancouver last year for UFC 115: Liddell vs. Franklin was a success: the tickets sold out in just 30 minutes, drawing a crowd of 17,669 and a gate of $4.2 million (USD).

However, an incident involving a gay couple on the same night of the event was blamed on the UFC being in town, despite no substantial proof of the two being connected in any way.

The Vancouver Canucks, who are the main tenants at Rogers Arena, are not responsible to pay for policing at their home games.

And while it's unclear if the VPD will decide to pay for the extra policing themselves, they have already announced that portable toilets will be placed around the arena on fight night and public service announcements will be made during the event to "respect your host community."

UFC 131, which takes place on June 11, will now be headlined by Junior dos Santos vs. Shane Carwin after Brock Lesnar pulled out of the fight Thursday.

Ik had even gemist dat Brock ziek was... Jammer! Maar Carwin tegen Dos Santos lijkt me echt een toppartij. Jammer voor Jon Olav, maar het is niet anders... Misschien wel een goede kans om met een klinkende overwinning te laten zien wat hij kan.

Top-ranked featherweight Hatsu Hioki vacates Shooto belt, will attend UFC 131

If all goes well, the UFC could have all the top-ranked featherweight talent locked up by next month.

Japanese featherweight Hatsu Hioki turned down an offer to fight featherweight champion Hiroyuki Takeya at DREAM.17 and on Tuesday announced that he's vacating his Shooto lightweight title.

Shu Hirata, an associate of Hioki who represents several Japanese fighters, today told MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com
) that the fighter is headed to UFC 131 as a guest, and all signs point to contract negotiations.

"I think he's going to have a sit-down with (UFC matchmaker) Sean Shelby and try to work out a deal," Hirata said.

Hioki wrote about his decision to relinquish the belt in a statement issued to the media.

"There is ... pride in wearing the Shooto world title, but I think that in the near future I would like to challenge a new stage of pride," he stated.

The manager said Shooto's official rules require a champion to defend his title every six months. However, that stipulation is not in the promotion's contracts, and the fighter's announcement is simply a courteous gesture to his former employer.

Hioki is also the Sengoku featherweight champion and has a contract with its promoter, World Victory Road. His deal has one fight remaining on it, yet it's unknown whether the promotion will ever return given serious financial problems its recently suffered. Several of its champions have asked for and been granted release from their contracts, including Jorge Santiago, who held the promotion's middleweight belt before he vacated it for a UFC contract.

"The number of fights they promised is already in breach," Hirata said. "But in Japanese culture, you don't really go an talk about the breach of contract unless you really, really have to.

"I think Hioki had to choose a political clearance by choosing the right time to vacate the (Shooto) belt and choosing the right time to tell Sengoku that he's going to the U.S. to negotiate."

Hioki (24-4-2) won the Shooto belt one year ago by defeating "Lion" Takeshi Inoue by split decision. This past December, he added the Sengoku belt to his mantle with a unanimous-decision win over the highly touted Marlon Sandro. He long has been considered one of the best fighters at 145 pounds.
