Ed Herman Replaces Tom Lawlor, Will Face Kyle Noke in August

After a successful return from an injury layoff, Ed Herman is wasting no time in keeping his momentum moving forward.

The longtime UFC middleweight has stepped into a vacancy left by an injury to Tom Lawlor, and will face Kyle Noke at the upcoming UFC on Versus event in August, the UFC confirmed on Friday.

The 30-year-old Herman spent nearly two years on the shelf after an August 2009 loss to Aaron Simpson resulted in a severe knee injury. Herman finally returned at The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale in June, and made up for lost time with a 48-second knockout of Tim Credeur.

    Herman is 20-7 overall.

Noke (19-4-1) has yet to lose in the UFC, winning all three of his matches in the organization. He holds wins over Chris Camozzi, Rob Kimmons and Josh Bryant. All three of his victories have come via stoppage.

The UFC gave no details on the injury to Lawlor.

UFC Live: Hardy vs. Lytle takes place on August 14 from the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.

Default Dan Hardy Says Moving to Vegas Will Change His Fortunes

It's been almost two years since Dan Hardy won a fight, and after losing his third in a row in March, Hardy decided he was overdue for a change of scenery.

So Hardy, who had been accustomed to splitting training time between his home in Nottingham, England, and Los Angeles, decided that he'd make Las Vegas the home base for his training camp for his Aug. 14 fight with Chris Lytle. Hardy says the results will be easy to see when he steps into the Octagon.

"It's been really good -- it's my best training camp so far," Hardy said. "I've been working every day with Roy Nelson and I have my striking coach with me."

Hardy said he's still loyal to his friends at Team Rough House in England, but that there's no comparison between England and Vegas when it comes to looking for a wide variety of coaches and training partners.

"I've been traveling around to a few different gyms for sparring," Hardy said of his time in Las Vegas. "There's a lot of talent in Vegas. It's given me the opportunity to train with a few different guys and get a few different looks."

After beating Mike Swick in 2009 to earn a welterweight title shot, Hardy has stagnated: In fights with Georges St. Pierre, Carlos Condit and Anthony Johnson, Hardy didn't just lose but he was completely dominated. He said those losses didn't cost him any confidence but did cause him to consider whether he was improving as a fighter.

"It's a continuous process and something I need to work on for the rest of my career," he said. "I'm seeing improvement from myself and I'm hearing from other people that there's been a lot of improvement. ... Sometimes you just need to take yourself out of your comfort zone and I think I slipped into a little bit of a groove in L.A. and England."

Now Hardy says he's confident that training in Las Vegas is going to result in a career-changing win over Lytle.

"I need to get my career back on track," Hardy said. "This is the right place to do it."

Leonard Garcia Out; Jim Hettes Meets Alex Caceres at UFC on Versus 5

Another injury has hit the UFC's card in Milwaukee next week, this time to one of the featherweight division's fan favorites.

An injury has forced Leonard Garcia out of his preliminary card fight against Alex Caceres at next week's UFC on Versus 5 show. The UFC announced Garcia's injury Tuesday and said promotional newcomer Jim Hettes will step in for the fight on short notice.

UFC on Versus 5 is the promotion's debut in the state of Wisconsin and will take place at the Bradley Center, downtown in the state's largest city.

Garcia (15-7-1, 2-3 UFC) was looking to get back in the win column after a March loss to Chan Sung Jung. That fight, which Jung won by rare twister submission, was a rematch from their WEC 48 split decision, which was controversially won by Garcia. The submission loss snapped a streak of four straight split decisions for Garcia – two wins, a loss and a split draw.

Caceres (5-3, 0-1 UFC), a cast member of Season 12 of "The Ultimate Fighter," on which he gained prominence for his "Bruce Leeroy" moniker, lost his official UFC debut in March when he was submitted by Mackens Semerzier.

For his new opponent, Caceres will be matched up with an unbeaten Pennsylvanian in Hettes (8-0) who has all eight of his wins by submission. Hettes was eyed by the UFC last year, but was unable to sign with the company because of commitments to another promotion.

The Caceres-Hettes fight will be part of the preliminary card in Milwaukee. The main card is headlined by a welterweight bout between former title challenger Dan Hardy, looking to snap a three-fight skid, and Chris Lytle. The co-main event features lightweight contenders Jim Miller, on a seven-fight winning streak, and former WEC 155-pound champion Ben Henderson.

Default UFC Live : Hardy vs Lytle predictions

    Main Card
Welterweight Bout: Dan Hardy vs. Chris Lytle

Lightweight Bout: Jim Miller vs. Ben Henderson

Lightweight Bout: Charles Oliveira vs. Donald Cerrone

Oliveira by Submission of Cerrone by Sub. .

Welterweight Bout: Amir Sadollah vs. Duane Ludwig

Amir Sadollah by TKO.

    Preliminary Card
Middleweight bout: C.B. Dollaway vs. Jared Hamman - Dollaway by decision.
Bantamweight Bout: Joseph Benavidez vs. Eddie Wineland - Benavidez by decision of SUB.
Middleweight Bout: Ed Herman vs. Kyle Noke - Noke by TKO
Light Heavyweight Bout: Karlos Vemola vs. Ronny Markes - Vemola by TKO of UD.
Featherweight bout: Alex Caceres vs. Jimy Hettes - Hettes by Sub of UD.
Lightweight Bout: Cole Miller vs. T.J. O'Brien - Miller by Sub of UD.
Lightweight Bout: Jacob Volkmann vs. Danny Castillo - Volkmann by UD.
Bantamweight Bout: Edwin Figueroa vs. Jason Reinhardt Figueroa by UD.
