maar damn wat een kut referee zeg! het was al veel eerder te zien dat ze "out" was... haar benen vielen opeens levenloos neer op de grond etc.

Heel erg slecht ingegrepen van de ref. Die benen gingen neer en je kon zelfs in de ogen zien dat ze er niet meer was. Die paar seconden dat hij 't door liet gaan kunnen net zo goed zware schade opleveren.

Mooie choke, dat wel.

Ik vind het sowieso schandalig dat ze de naam Couture gebruikt terwijl ze gescheiden is van Randy.

Hij doet eerst zwaaien met ze handen zo van, het gevecht is afgelopen ipv gelijk die benen van der nek af te halen. echt achterlijk

Calgary Combatitive Sports Commission to investigate the late referee stoppage in Kim Couture vs. Sheila Bird fight

MMAWeekly.com (via MMAMania.com) reports that Calgary Combative Sports Commission will investigate the late referee stoppage in a fight between "Sugar Free" Kim Couture and Sheila Bird at AX Combat 1, last Friday in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
The referee was at least 8 seconds late to stop the action, as Kim Couture was completely unconcious in Bird's Scissors Choke. Make sure to check out MMAMania.com's play-by-play, of what could have had a tragic ending. Here's the official statement from the Calgary Combative Sports Commission:
"This matter is under review by the Calgary Combative Sports Commission and until a thorough investigation has been conducted there will be no further comment."
Couture is currently 3-5 in her MMA career, with 2 Submission and one TKO/KO defeat on her record.

Ik vraag me af wat je tegen zo'n actie kan doen... Evt schade die opgelopen is voor de rekening van de scheids en hem schorsen van verdere werkzaamheden als scheidsrechter?

Vergeleken met het gevecht van Kim Couture heb ik hier een veel erger voorbeeld:

Much noise was made recently over the debacle concerning Kim Couture's last fight. If you haven't heard or watched the clip, Couture (ex-wife of Ultimate Fighting Championship Hall of Famer Randy Couture) was caught in a scissor choke submission, and appeared to be out for up to ten seconds before the referee finally stopped the fight.
On Saturday night (Jul. 9), the Turkish mixed martial arts (MMA) organization "Fight Code" held an event in Istanbul, Turkey, which was mired by controversy.
Below is a video clip of the fight in question. You can clearly see one of the fighters tapping repeatedly, before the fighter in top position finally just gets off of him. It's not until this point that the referee sees the unconscious participant and calls an end to the fight.
It's hard to tell, because of the shaky-cam videography and the quickness of the hand movement, but it looks like the guy tapped about 17 times before he blacked out. Seriously. No exaggeration for effect. 17!
