Mixed martial artists do not typically make a lot of money. While a big name in the Ultimate Fighting Championship makes millions in fight purses, endorsement deals and personal appearances, a professional fighter on the local circuit often makes a few hundred dollars per fight. Sponsorships help keep many fighters afloat since sponsors provide money for training camp and often assist with equipment costs as well. Getting a sponsorship for a professional MMA fighter requires persistence and diligence.

1
Assemble a press kit for your fighter that includes biographical information, photos, physical stats, your fighter's record, fight and training videos and reasons that sponsoring the fighter would benefit the potential sponsor. Proofread everything you put together because a single typo can ruin your credibility. Include information about the promotion your fighter is competing for and if there is any TV coverage of the event.

2
Write down a price list to give sponsors options regarding advertising on the fighter's shorts, T-shirt, hat or corner banner. For example, a smaller advertisement on the side of a fighter's shorts should be cheaper than a larger ad on the back of them because it gets less visibility. This provides a starting point for business negotiations.

3
Visit local businesses with your press kits to inquire about sponsorship opportunities. Explain how the business gets advertising by a logo being visible on a fighter's shorts or walkout T-shirt at the fight venue. Fighters also often mention sponsors by name during promotional interviews.

4
Invite potential sponsors to an event where your fighter is competing. It helps the sponsor understand how his business benefits from advertising with a fighter at a fight venue. He gets to see the fighter but also, more importantly, gets to see the live audience that would be the advertising audience. It makes a better impression if your fighter wins his fight.

5
Talk to other pro fighters to see who their sponsors are and if those sponsors are looking for other fighters.

6
Contact MMA websites and supplement companies about possible sponsorship. They specifically want to reach MMA fans with their products and advertising so they are more likely to be receptive to sponsoring a new fighter.
