Alle geschillen die lopen gaan over Muay Thai, dus ja juridisch gezien kunnen ze hem niet verbieden om MMA te gaan doen.

‎15 June 2012. At 11:30AM today, Buakaw issued a statement through his lawyer regarding Por Pramuk camp's lawsuit. The camp had filed this lawsuit against Buakaw claiming 100 million baht in damages after he fought in Thai Fight at Pattaya on 17 April 2012.

Buakaw believes that he was right to fight on 17 April 2012. This is because on 31 October 2010, the head of Por Pramuk camp, Mr. Teeraphat Rojanathan (Au), had brought him to sign a contract with Sport Art Co., the organiser of Thai Fight. This contract specifies that Buakaw has to fight in Thai Fight events for 2 years until December 2012. Mr. Teeraphat had signed as a witness on this contract. After signing this contract, Buakaw fought in Thai Fight events with the full knowledge of the camp, without any problems.

In January 2012, Por Pramuk camp agreed with Sport Art Co. & the promoter to arrange for Buakaw to fight in Thai Fight at Pattaya on 17 April 2012, & the camp ordered Buakaw to train in preparation for this fight. Furthermore, on 28 February 2012, Por Pramuk camp sent a letter to Sport Art Co. asking for the company's permission to allow Buakaw to fight in the camp's event on 4 May 2012. These actions show that Por Pramuk camp understood that they had signed over all rights to grant Buakaw the permission to fight - including in Thai Fight events - to Sport Art Co. for 2 years in the contract. If Buakaw did not fight in Thai Fight as required by the contract, he would be fined 1.5 million baht for breach of contract. Therefore, Buakaw did not cause any loss or damages to Por Pramuk camp by fighting in the 17 April 2012 event, as he had received the necessary permission [from Sport Art Co.] to do so.

Buakaw also believes that Por Pramuk camp has no right to sue him. This is because Buakaw is a boxer belonging to the camp with a contract under the Boxing law. According to clauses 12 & 13 of his existing contract with the camp, the camp would have the right to sue him for damages only if the camp terminates his contract with them, which they have not done.

In addition to the lawsuit, Por Pramuk camp had also filed a request for a court injunction to block Buakaw from boxing & appearing in any form of advertising until the lawsuit is settled. This request is scheduled to be heard by the court on 2 July 2012. Buakaw has already registered his objection to this request. He had a dispute with the camp over how the camp has exploited him & not paid him his fair share of income, as well as other problems, which made him escape from the camp. He had already written to the Registrar [of the Board of Boxing Sport] about these problems on 26 March 2012 before the lawsuit was filed. The camp had also pressured him to the point where he had to announce his retirement from boxing in front of the Registrar of the Board of Boxing Sport & the media on 31 May 2012. Furthermore, he has already submitted a letter [to the Board of Boxing Sport] requesting that his status as a boxer be revoked. Under the law, he would not be able to box again without this official status as a boxer.* As for appearing in advertisements or shows, this is unrelated to boxing. Buakaw should have the freedom to pursue these activities, & he has to work in order to earn a living & support his father & other relatives.

[* Hence there is no longer a need for a court injunction to block him from boxing.]

Buakaw says that when he saw Mr. Pramuk Rojanathan applaud after he announced his retirement from boxing, he understood that the dispute had come to an end. However, many days have passed, & Por Pramuk camp has not dropped the lawsuit against him, & so he has to fight this lawsuit. He has no idea what more the camp still wants from him, as he has nothing left.

Buakaw feels that senior people in the muaythai community have not been fair to him. They punished him [with a suspension] before he had a chance to explain the facts. In addition, he had sent a letter to the Board of Boxing Sport requesting that the Registrar check the contracts between Por Pramuk camp & the organisers of his last 15 major fights. This is to allow Buakaw to find out the fight earnings that were agreed upon, & know exactly how much he should have received, as the law states that he should be paid 50% of this income. However, Buakaw has not received any reply to this letter till this day.

The contract between a boxer & his camp is worse than a slave contract, & every time a boxer fights he trades his sweat & pain & risks becoming handicapped. [Referring to the terms of his existing contract with the camp] Buakaw said, 'Even if I want to set up a stall & sell larb or somtam*, I will have to ask the camp for permission first, right? & I must share this income with the camp too?'

Buakaw now based in Hong Kong – MMA is an option

As the story that has become BUAKAW BANCHAMEKhas grown and rumors have swelled about if he will fight MMA or where he will fight, is he retired ?
Well here’s what we do know:
Bukaw is possibly looking at a deal(stipulations unknown) with a new MMA gym in Hong Kong – Epic MMA.
The gym is now hosting Buakaw and he has been training daily in MMA / Jiu Jitsu / Boxing and muay thai.

Epic gym has yet to drop any official statement or press release – so we cant disclose certain details just yet.
Buakaw has retired from competing in Muay Thai, his deal with Por Pramuk involves only muay thai. This means Buakaw can compete in K-1, Shooto or MMA without any legal ramifications.
Sources tell us Buakaw may sign a deal with Epic MMA gym and will for now be based out of Hong Kong – in line with this, Buakaw has also looked at a deal with a new MMA / Jiu Jitsu brand – GRIPS ‘everyday warrior apparel’
We can expect Buakaw to compete in Shooto and K-1 fights this year.
Neither Buakaw, Epic MMA or Grips have mentioned any MMA fights… still he is training daily in his ground skills and this means he is open to the possibilities. Buakaw was also seen recently as a guest at Legend FC.
Could you imagine if Legend FC or ONE FC offered a contract to Buakaw – where he could still fight Shooto/K-1 and also compete in there MMA event !?
Pretty exciting and would surely pull a good audience.
Wish i had added him to our latest poll ‘Who Should ONE FC Sign Next
Before people start saying things like ‘sign him to UFC, no-one could hang with his standup’ and ‘he will be an MMA champion for sure!”
I say to you – relax your eager selves, Buakaw is a super talented fighter and athlete (yes) but remember Michael Jordan’s terrible baseball career? (maybe you dont) because it was certainly not a good one….
Buakaw will need solid training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling and then sparring with other pro MMA fighters – if he even hopes to hang with the talent pool MMA now has.
Lets hope this happens and we might just see him in a cage sometime soon!

    Euhm goed nieuws......

On 2 July 2012, the five defendants being sued by Por Pramuk camp met at the Civil Court at Ratchadapisek for arbitration. They are: Mr. Noppon Wathin (the organiser of Thai Fight), Mr. Wisanu Am-Anand (the Thai Fight promoter), Acting Lt. Teerawat Yioyim (Buakaw's sports science trainer), Mr. Sombat Banchamek (Buakaw), & the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT).

Por Pramuk camp will withdraw their lawsuit against Buakaw, the Thai Fight promoter & SAT, in return for the Thai Fight organiser dropping his 200 million baht counter-lawsuit against the camp, in order to bring the problem to an end.

It was reported in the evening news that from now on, Buakaw is free to fight in muaythai again, including in Thai Fight & other events. He has to use 'Buakaw Por Pramuk' as his fight name, but is free to train on his own at his own camp, & accept offers to fight. At the same time, Por Pramuk camp will also receive fight opportunities for Buakaw too. 60% of fight earnings will go to Buakaw, & 40% to the camp. Income from public appearances, advertising & promotions will be divided 75:25 (75% to Buakaw, 25% to the camp), but if Buakaw engages in these activities without the involvement of Por Pramuk camp, he will receive the full sum.

Ik zou graag Petrosyan vs Buakaw willen zien......Make it happen
