Default UFC 150 :Ben Henderson vs Frankie Edgar | 11 augustus

On Nov. 12, 1993, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) held its first event ever at the McNichols Sports Arena in Denver, Colorado. With a reported attendance of just 2,800 and only 86,000 buys on pay-per-view (PPV), you can really tell how far the company -- and the sport -- has come over the past 20 years. Now, the company will return to the land from whence it came for its next historic show, UFC 150, on Aug. 11, 2012, at the Pepsi Center. And it will have one hell of a headlining match-up.That's because MMAWeekly.com brings word that UFC Lightweight Champion Ben Henderson will grantFrankie Edgar his rematch wish on this very show. The two initially met back on Feb. 25 at UFC 144 in Japan. On that night, Henderson turned in the performance of a lifetime, going toe-to-toe with one of the toughest men in the entire sport and outworking the imitable Edgar over five grueling rounds. After 25 minutes of back-and-forth action, the judges sided with "Bendo" and he became the new champion. And then a bit of controversy ensued.
UFC President Dana White all but promised Anthony Pettis the next title shot. This was intriguing simply because Pettis and Henderson had met once before at the final World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) event in Dec. 2010.It resulted in one of the best fights in that organizations history and one of the best moments of all time in mixed martial arts (MMA) altogether. It was no surprise, then, that the powers that be wanted to give the two talented lightweights a bigger stage to see if they could replicate that special night down in Glendale, Arizona. There was just one problem. They forgot about Frankie.Indeed, Edgar felt slighted by the very thought that he wouldn't be granted an immediate rematch, especially after he had done so on multiple occasions against guys like B.J. Penn and Gray Maynard. After a brief stalemate between both parties, Edgar got "the answer" he wanted and he was granted to shot at redeeming himself and regaining the 155-pound belt he worked so hard to protect.Hope y'all ready.UFC 150 is expected to be headlined by Henderson vs. Edgar while other bouts announced for the card includeYushin Okami vs. Luiz Cane in a middleweight mash up and Thiago Tavares vs. Dennis Hallman in lightweight action.

Jake Shields vs. Ed Herman Set for UFC 150

Despite rebounding back into the victory column in his last fight, Jake Shields has decided to move up a weight class. The former UFC No. 1 welterweight contender is set to transition to 185, where he'll take on Ed Herman at UFC 150 in August. UFC president Dana White confirmed the bout on Monday evening.

It was only two months ago when Shields came back from consecutive losses to earn a unanimous decision over Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 144. Afterward, he discussed the possibility of returning to middleweight, a division in which he once held the Strikeforce championship. It's fairly rare for a fighter to move up in weight following a win, but that's the decision Shields has made.

Following his win over Akiyama, he's now 27-6-1 all-time. So far in his UFC run, he's just 2-2, with losses coming to Georges St-Pierre and Jake Ellenberger.

Herman has had a nice run since returning from a serious knee injury. Since that time, he's gone a perfect 3-0 with wins over Tim Credeur, Kyle Noke, and most recently, Clifford Starks. More impressively, all three of the victories have come by way of stoppage.

Shields, however, represents the most decorated opponent he has yet to face.
Herman is 20-7 overall in his 10-year career.

UFC 150 will take place on August 11 from the Pepsi Center in Denver.

UFC 150: Michael Kuiper vs. Jared Hamman

    By
    Kris
    – May 22, 2012Posted in: UFC

Rousimar Palhares Replaces Injured Luiz Cane, Justin Lawrence vs. Max Holloway Added to UFC 150

Former light heavyweight Luiz Cane has been removed from his UFC 150 bout opposite Yushin Okami due to injury, UFC officials announced on Monday.

His countryman, decorated Brazilian grappler Rousimar Palhares, has been tapped as a replacement for the middleweight clash.

Palhares (14-4), widely recognized at one of MMA's foremost leglock specialists, hopes to rebound from an electrifying first-round TKO loss to Alan Belcher at UFC on FOX 3. Prior to the setback, "Toquinho" rolled to wins in six of his last seven UFC contests, snatching four victories via his trademark submissions.

Okami (26-7), meanwhile, looks to right his ship after having a three-fight win streak snapped by two straight TKO losses to UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and rising contender Tim Boetsch, the latter of which was one of the more stunning comebacks in recent UFC history.

Additionally, UFC officials announced the next move of recent TUF standout Justin Lawrence (4-0). The undefeated 22-year-old has agreed to drop to featherweight and fight fellow up-and-comer Max Holloway (5-1) at UFC 150.

Lawrence impressively knocked out John Cofer earlier this month in his UFC debut, while Holloway handedly defeated Pat Schilling on the very same card.

UFC 150 is slated for August 11, 2012, at the Pepsi Center in Denver, CO, and headlined by a lightweight championship rematch pitting Ben Henderson against Frankie Edgar.

Yushin Okami Meets Buddy Roberts at UFC 150 After Fighters Fall Out

A pair of middleweight matchups were set for UFC 150 on Aug. 11, as Yushin Okami was scheduled to meet Rousimar Palhares and Buddy Roberts was slated to face Chris Camozzi.

But Palhares and Camozzi have both been sidelined with unspecified injuries. So UFC.com announced on Wednesday that Okami and Roberts will tangle at Denver's Pepsi Center instead.

For Okami, ranked No. 9 in the most recent MMAFighting.com middleweight rankings, Roberts represents his third UFC 150 foe. The Japanese star was first slated to fight Luiz Cane, then when Cane pulled out with an injury, Palhares took his place.

Roberts (12-2), a Jackson's MMA fighter, now has a big opportunity to step up in competition and make a name for himself. He won his UFC debut against Calo Magalhaes via unanimous decision on June 8, his sixth straight win and 10th in his past 11 fights.

Okami (26-7) is looking to shake off a two-fight losing streak. He was stopped by middleweight champion Anderson Silva last August and was TKOd in the third round against Tim Boetsch in February after dominating the first two rounds.

Hopelijk nog een keer tegen Lombard!

Tis een Amerikaan zonder wrestling achtergrond. Ik denk dat Kuiper met zn judo skills die gozer op de mat moet smijten en Hamman dan zijn eerste submission loss kan geven.
