A. Overeem zal naar het UFC terugkeren, maar komt niet meer in contact met Dana White

Het is geen geheim dat de heisa rond Alistair Overeem voor heel wat kopzorgen en teleurstelling bij grote baas Dana White heeft gezorgd. Overeem testte negatief op een testosterontest en werd 9 maanden geschorst. Hij zou in december van dit jaar opnieuw een licentie kunnen aanvragen en vervolgens begin 2013 misschien terug voor het UFC kunnen vechten. White maakte echter duidelijk dat hij nog steeds heel teleurgesteld is:
“Hij heeft tegen mij gelogen. Hij zat voor ons en hij loog in ons gezicht. Ik ben niet meer geïnteresseerd in hem. Ik hoef niet met mensen te spreken met wie ik niet wil spreken en ik wil niet met hem spreken, Lorenzo zal dat wel doen.”
Toch laten ze Overeem niet los en zal hij waarschijnlijk terug voor het UFC vechten.
“Hij is voor de commissie verschenen en heeft zijn straf gekregen. Hij gaat zijn straf uitzitten en als hij terugkomt, kan hij terug een licentie aanvragen. En dan kunnen we terug praten.”

Eén vraag die bij vele fans momenteel door het hoofd spookt, is of Overeem meteen weer een titelgevecht zal krijgen. White gaf aan dat hij terug een titelgevecht zal moeten verdienen.
Het UFC zal waarschijnlijk een rematch tussen dos Santos en Cain Velasquez organiseren. Deze wedstrijd zal dan in september, oktober of november plaatsvinden. Het zou logisch zijn moest Overeem dan tegen de winnaar vechten, maar daar denkt White blijkbaar anders over.

Overeem kwam tijdens de hearing met het verhaal dat ie niet bewust PED's had gebruikt, maar dat ie wel een "schadeherstellende" spuit heeft gezet(twijfelachtig verhaal natuurlijk, maar feit is dat de commissie dit voor waar heeft aangenomen).
Overeem heeft als dit(nogmaals: twijfelachtige) verhaal waar is dus helemaal niet gelogen tegen DW.
Dus van belang is: Waar en vooral wanneer heeft Dana dit gezegd?
Als dit was vóór de hearing, dan is dit nieuwsbericht helemaal niet meer relevant.

Los van of zijn verhaal waar is of niet (eigenlijk boeit me dat niet eens).. Ben je toch wel zo dom als een visstick als je een spuit laat zetten zonder te informeren wat ze er nou daadwerkelijk in spuiten. Ik zou dat willen weten, iemand die al een dubieuze reputatie heeft (jarenlange geruchten en het spontaan naar Nederland vertrekken als ze een test uit willen gaan voeren op je) zou exact moeten willen weten wat ze in spuiten voor ze die spuit zetten..

Van de andere kant vind ik Dana White een nog grotere draaikont dan Wouter Bos en die mag al helemaal niets zeggen over liegen want hij praat ook altijd in zijn eigen straatje..

Al met al heb ik voor beide heren niet al te veel respect. De een omdat hij een ego nog groter dan zijn spierbundels heeft en gewoon raar/ dom doet (voor een voorbeeld zie boven).

En de ander omdat hij gewoon een mafketel is die in mijn ogen niet aan het hoofd van een bedrijf als dat UFC mag staan omdat hij niet echt een symbool voor de sport is. Als je MMA mainstream wilt maken is het minste wat je kunt doen niet in elke zin 5x fucking te zeggen. Maar dat is mijn bescheiden mening.

Ik weet niet wanneer Dana bovenstaande heeft gezegd, maar dat staat haaks op wat hij pas heeft gezegd over Alistair.

Before he was kicked off voluntarily withdrew from the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 146 pay-per-view (PPV) event last Saturday night (May 26, 2012) in Las Vegas, Nevada, embattled Dutch striker Alistair Overeem was the promotion's heavyweight number one contender.
And according to UFC President Dana White, he still is.
That means "Demolition Man," who was expected to challenge Junior dos Santos for the division crown during the Memorial Day Weekend extravaganza, may already be the leading candidate to face the winner of "Cigano's"potential rematch against Cain Velasquez, who is likely to get the chance to regain his title after stepping on"Bigfoot" Silva in "Sin City."
White confirms "The Reem," upon his Octagon return, will regain his division standing during the UFC 146 post-fight press conference:

"He went before the athletic commission and he got his punishment and he's gonna serve his sentence now. When he comes back, he has to apply for a license again and then we'll go from there. Yeah, I mean I think he should (regain his standing), yeah."

That's bad news for Ben Rothwell.

But don't expect to see Overeem any sooner than the promotion's annual year-end show. In fact, there's a chance we may not see him before 2013, based on his recent run-in with the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC).
Overeem admitted under oath that he was injecting himself with medication that was (unbeknownst to him) laced with testosterone, which caused him to fail a pre-fight drug test back on March 27.
"The Reem" insists the medication, designed to expedite his recovery from a rib injury, was secretly juiced upand responsible for his 14:1 testosterone-to-epitestosterone levels.
It still got him benched for nine months from the legal eagles at the NSAC.
Nevertheless, he'll be back at some point later this year or early next year, but do you agree with the decision to let him pick up where he left off? Or should he have to go to the back of the line?

Junior dos Santos doesn’t mind a title fight against a performance enhancer-free Alistair Overeem

In the fight game, it's often said that a champion isn't proven until he defends his title. To that end, Junior dos Santos is the true Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight Champion, blitzing through Frank Mir at UFC 146 this past weekend (May 26, 2012) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
It took six months for dos Santos to get back into the Octagon to defend his strap for the first time, but it only took him eight minutes to remind the mixed martial arts (MMA) community the reason(s) he is the best heavyweight in the world. Using his precise and powerful striking, "Cigano" peppered Mir at will, while keeping just enough distance to prevent the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt to grab hold of any of his limbs and fall victim to his crafty submission game.
After surviving a barrage of punches from dos Santos in the closing seconds of the first round, Mir couldn't escape the strikes that were in store for him in the second frame. After landing a big straight right that connected cleanly and dropped Mir to the mat, the former champion just didn't seem to have anything left to get back up.
Accordingly, the referee was smart enough to end the fight and prevent further damage, though "JDS" did sneak in one final shot for good measure.
Now that dos Santos has his first defense under his belt, he can look forward to his next challenge, which willmore than likely be against the man he won it from back at UFC on Fox 1 on Nov. 12, 2011, Cain Velasquez. The former champion earned his shot at revenge by putting on an even better performance than Junior on the co-main event, dismantling Antonio Silva with ease and painting the canvas red with "Bigfoot's" blood.
Speaking to Tatame, dos Santos says he is ready to rematch Velasquez should he be next, but he doesn't really care who he fights, as long as it's not a "drug using" Alistair Overeem:

"Let's do it (Cain Velasquez rematch). I don't care who my next opponent is. It depends on UFC and, whoever it is, I'll be ready to do my best and keep this title for a long time. I don't think about fighting anybody. Overeem is paying the price to do drugs. If he keeps on doing it, I hope they keep him far away from me. If he stops doing it and come to fight a fair fight for us who don't use it, he will be welcomed. If UFC wants to match me up against him someday, I'll do my best to beat him."

Successfully defending the title for the first time was a big accomplishment for the Brazilian bomber, however, winning it was a much greater success:

"I guess winning. It was so big in my life and I was on such a frustrating moment, I wasn't feeling 100 percent and God's been good to me. The outcome was perfect. The title defense is very important, but earning the title is greater."

There is no exact word on when Velasquez and dos Santos will square off for the second time, but first things first, "Brown Pride" will have to get medical clearance to compete as he was hit with a six month-long suspension after he injured his hand on Silva's face.
Overeem, on the other hand, will be unable to make his way back inside the cage until Feb. 2013 at the earliest because of his suspension that was handed down by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC). Upon his return, UFC President Dana White says he will still be the divisions top contender.
Let's not forget that Daniel Cormier is also waiting in the wings and ready to take his talents to the UFC, too,after winning the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix.
No matter who he fights in his second title defense, dos Santos' title reign will surely be tested.

verleden week vrijdag zei Dana tijdens een interview met Ariel dat Overeem nog steeds een titleshot krijgt. Hij zei er wel bij dat hij er niet overgaat: zelfde woorden als de ts: " you should asked Lorenzo". Overigens is Cain Velazques waarschijnlijk een half jaar uitgeschakeld door een gebroken hand. De eerstvolgende titleshot gaat dan naar Cormier schat ik zo in.

White wilde Cormier toch op 205 hebben? Dacht dat hij dat zelf ook wilde, omdat hij dan niet tegen z'n maatje Velasquez hoefde.

Dana heeft gelijk, als AO weer terug is in 2013 zal die eerst tegen 2 top 10 vechters moeten vechten voordat ie in aanmerking komt voor een title shot.

Vergeet ook niet dat de NSAC eind 2012 zijn licentie-aanvraag kan weigeren. Overeem is in wezen niet geschorst maar is ongelicenseerd. Wordt nog een harde dobber voor hem om kort na z'n licentie-aanvraag op een card geplaatst te worden.
