Default UFC 154: St-Pierre vs. Condit, Hendricks vs. Kampmann

An unofficial welterweight tournament could be coming to Montreal later this year.

UFC president Dana White said following Friday's UFC on FX 3 post-fight press conference that the organization was hoping to book Georges St-Pierre vs. Carlos Condit for the UFC welterweight title at UFC 154, with Martin Kampmann vs. Johny Hendricks serving as the co-main event to determine the division's No. 1 contender. The winners would then face off sometime in 2013.

UFC 154 is scheduled for Nov. 17 at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

White added that the 170-pound fights have yet to be signed but those were the two main bouts the promotion was hoping to bring north of the border.

St-Pierre hasn't fought since April 2011 due to a torn ACL, however, according to the UFC president, St-Pierre's rehab following knee surgery is on target.

UFC 154 marks the organization's first event in Montreal since UFC 124: St-Pierre vs. Koscheck 2 in Dec. 2010.

Dana White Says Georges St-Pierre Is 'Good to Go' for November Return

UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre absolutely, unequivocally, 100 percent will make his return from a knee injury on November 17, when he meets interim champion Carlos Condit in the main event of UFC 154 in Montreal. At least as of now.

Asked about St-Pierre's status during Thursday's UFC 149 press conference in Calgary, UFC president Dana White said that the champ's return is on track.

"Yup, as far as I know, right here, right now, he's gonna fight, yes," said White. "Unless any complications happen, he's good to go."

At four years and three months, St-Pierre is the second-longest-reigning champion in UFC history, behind current middleweight champion Anderson Silva. He's won nine consecutive fights, but has been out of competition since April 30, 2011, when he defeated Jake Shields at Toronto's Rogers Centre in the main event of UFC 129.

Knee woes first kept St-Pierre out of a UFC 137 bout with Condit; then a UFC 143 matchup against Nick Diaz. St-Pierre underewent surgery on his right ACL and Condit instead defeated Diaz for the interim welterweight title.

On June 27, St-Pierre tweeted "I'm back in Montreal and full-time training! Already tried a few kicks - right knee is super strong," indicating that he's back on track for the Condit bout.

Francis Carmont, Tom Lawlor to Fight at UFC 154

Francis Carmont impressed observers in his most recent fight. The performance has earned him a bout in his hometown.Carmont and "Filthy" Tom Lawlor have agreed to meet in a middleweight matchup at UFC 154 on Nov. 17 at Montreal's Bell Centre, according to MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani.

Carmont, who trains at Montreal's Tri Star Gym, is 3-0 in the UFC. His most recent victory was a strong second-round submission win over Karlos Veloma. Carmont has won eight straight fights, seven via finish inside of two rounds.

Lawlor (8-4, 1 no-contest), a native of Fall River, MA, is also coming off a highlight-reel performance. He earned knockout of the night honors for his 50-second finish of veteran Jason MacDonald on May 15. Lawlor has won two of his past three fights.

UFC 154 is expected to be headlined by the return of Carmont's Tri Star teammate, welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, in a match with interim champion Carlos Condit.

Default Anderson Silva Favors GSP Fight Even If GSP Loses To Condit

Regardless of who wins, even if St. Pierre loses, a fight with me can happen. A fight like this is above anything else. St. Pierre is one of the greatest of the UFC. Right now, a fight with Condit is meaningless.”

UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva, seems to have his eyes set and locked on a potential match up with the welterweight champ, GSP. So much so that when asked if the UFC 154 bout between GSP and Carlos Condit would have an impact on his decision, the champ said no.

Anderson gains: Legacy + Money, meer dan ooit met maar 1 gevecht. Ik begrijp waarom hij deze kans niet wil missen.

Georges St-Pierre Gains Medical Clearance, Paving Way for UFC 154 Bout

It's mostly been a summer of bad news for the UFC. Injuries have affected events, pay-per-view buy rates have struggled, and the promotion might have reached its recent nadir when they were forced to cancel a scheduled event on Sept. 1.

Just when they need some good news, they got it. On Monday, welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre had his surgically repaired right knee cleared, paving the way for a UFC 154 showdown with interim champ Carlos Condit in Montreal.

St-Pierre announced the news himself through his various social media outlets.

The 31-year-old originally injured his knee while practicing wrestling last December in anticipation of a title defense against Nick Diaz. An MRI proved that GSP had a torn ACL as well as a smaller tear in his meniscus. He had surgery performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, and has spent the time between then and now rehabilitating his knee.

In the meantime, Condit defeated Diaz in an interim title fight last February, and elected to wait and face St-Pierre rather than defend the interim belt.

St-Pierre (22-2) hasn't fought since UFC 129 in April 2011, when he defeated Jake Shields in the main event of the highest-grossing show in promotional history, drawing a gate of over $12 million to Toronto's Rogers Centre.

The champion and the UFC have long targeted UFC 154 as the site of St-Pierre vs. Condit fight, as the city is GSP's hometown. Though the fight is not yet official, it is likely to be announced within a few weeks. UFC 154 will take place on Nov. 17 at the Bell Centre.

Thompson vs. Yousef on Tap for UFC 154

Stephen Thompson and Besam Yousef will square off at UFC 154, according to UFC Tonight on Tuesday.

Both fighters are coming off their first career MMA loss. Yousef (6-1) was submitted by Simeon Thoresen at UFC on FUEL TV 2 this past April, while Thompson (6-1) lost a unanimous decision to Matt Brown at UFC 145 in April as well.

UFC 154 will be held Nov. 17 at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Georges St. Pierre vs. Carlos Condit is expected to be the main event.

Patrick Cote vs. Alessio Sakara Booked for UFC 154

    Patrick Cote is coming home.

UFC officials announced on Friday that the Quebec-native Cote will meet Alessio Sakara at UFC 154 on Nov. 17, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The middleweight fight will mark Cote's 12th in the province of Quebec in his 26-fight career.

UFC 154, which is expected to be headlined by Georges St-Pierre vs. Carlos Condit for the undisputed welterweight title, will take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Cote (17-8) returned to the UFC in July after going 4-0 outside the organization over the past year and a half. Unfortunately for "The Predator," he lost a unanimous decision to Cung Le at UFC 148.

Sakara (15-9, 1 NC) was most recently knocked out by Brian Stann in the first round at UFC on FUEL TV 2 in April. The Italian veteran heads into UFC 154 stuck in a two-fight losing streak.

Yes eindelijk GSP weer terug. Eerst Condit en daarna mogelijk alsnog een partij met Diaz in het verschiet. Hij is voorlopig nog niet klaar op WW.
