There are rumors floating around right now about the Glory 4 Tokyo event, aka, the Glory Grand Slam tournament. We've heard from a few people in Japan that tickets are no longer on sale for the event and that according to certain vendors the show is not happening.

Of course, the tournament will happen in Japan.

9 November komt er een personferentie en dat zal het iedereen duidenlijk worden, er zijn positive ontwikkelingen gaande in Japan. meer kan ik er nog niet van zeggen.

Ik hoop wel dat het doorgaat. Ik heb namelijk al een vliegticket en hotel geboekt en betaald.
Ik zou er gigantisch ziek van zijn als dit geen doorgang zou hebben. Ik heb hard moeten werken voor die eurootjes die ik neergeteld heb om dit te kunnen ondernemen.
Je kunt toch als organisatie niet 3 weken van te voren zo iets afblazen. Dat zou dan toch wel een

Since the Glory World Series event this past weekend the rumor mills have been buzzing about Glory and what could possibly be going on. Last week a rumor started up that Glory had gone out and purchased OneFC, Singapore's hot commodity in MMA right now, but we've yet to hear anything concrete on that. So over the weekend from the Glory World Series event more rumors starting churning, and these were that the GLORY 4 Tokyo event, the big Heavyweight Grand Slam Tournament, is going to be delayed. The initial rumors were delayed or even canceled, but canceled didn't make much sense.

According to sources within Glory there was going to be a big announcement this week, tentatively on Tuesday. Now it looks like November 9th is slated to be the big announcement. So what exactly will this announcement be? Word on the street right now is that the Grand Slam Tournament will take place on December 31st in collaboration with the DREAM NYE event. This would come as a shock to no one.

As for some of the other rumors like purchasing OneFC or even K-1? Wait and see.

Glory 4 Tokyo definitief verplaatst naar 31 december!

Well, the rumors have been swirling throughout this week since GLORY 3 Rome on what would happen with GLORY 4 Tokyo - Grand Slam. We finally have some concrete information from GLORY's press conference that just happened in Tokyo.

GLORY 4 Tokyo will be moved from its original date of December 2 and will be combined with the DREAM 18 event on December 31. This includes the Grand Slam tournament, which is a 16 man, one night, heavyweight tournament.

Details from the press conference include that the show will be around seven hours and will feature 15 GLORY kickboxing fights and 7-9 DREAM MMA fights. The event will be broadcasted on SkyPerfectTV in Japan, although the format in which it will be broadcasted has not been decided on yet. For the North American broadcast, Marcus Luer is meeting with broadcasters next week and says that GLORY is vigorously pursuing a wide international broadcast of the event.

Anyone who purchased tickets for GLORY 4 Tokyo on December 2 can get a full refund and buy tickets for December 31 from the same distributors.

Tokyo, Japan (Nov 9th, 2011) - As a follow up of GLORY Sports International (GSI) recent announcement to produce DREAM.18 on New Year's Eve out of Saitama Arena, the company now has further decided to merge GLORY 4 Tokyo with Dream.18 and create one Mega Night of Martial Arts on Dec 31st.

GLORY 4 Tokyo was originally scheduled to take place on Dec 2nd from the Makuhari Messe Complex. After detailed study and consideration GSI strongly believes that combining the two shows will create the largest possible impact to re-launch the Japanese Martial Arts scene and create an event like no other before.

Pierre Andurand the Chairman of GSI commented, ”for us as a company we want to create the most spectacular Martial Arts show Japan has ever seen. After taking over DREAM.18, it just made natural sense to look at the opportunity to revive the traditional New Year's date and create a MEGA show. We are extremely proud and excited to deliver this Mega show now to the Japanese Fighting fans and to the world at large. I can't wait to spend my New Year's Eve at the Saitama Arena”.

“GSI will provide fans who have bought tickets for GLORY 4 Tokyo with a full refund which can be easily obtained at the outlets where they bought the tickets. At the same time, the same outlets will also sell the new Tickets for the combined Dec 31st show”, explained Luer.

“GSI presents DREAM.18 and GLORY 4 Tokyo -New Year's Eve Special” will be starting at 4pm on Dec 31st and rolling all the way till midnight. DREAM 18 will see an amazing line up of top Japanese and international MMA Superstars. Further details of the cards will be released next week.

GLORY 4 Tokyo as previously announced will feature the best Heavyweight Fighters in the world in a 16 man single elimination tournament with one man left standing at the end of the night who will be crowned the GLORY Heavyweight Grand Slam Champion with a winner's check of US$ 400,000, the highest in the sport.
