Jacob Volkmann says he's fighting Lyle Beerbohm at WSOF 3
In his first post-UFC fight, Jacob Volkmann (15-4) will meet Strikeforce vet Lyle Beerbohm (22-2) in a lightweight bout at World Series of Fighting 3 in June, Volkmann today announced via Twitter.
"Just got word from WSOF matchmaker my fight June 14th against Lyle Beerbohm is on for sure," he wrote.
The event takes place June 14 at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The main card airs on NBC Sports Network, though Volkmann vs. Beerbohm likely will be a featured prelim bout.
The UFC released Volkmann in February following a submission loss to Bobby Green despite his 6-2 run (and overall 6-4 record in the organization, which included wins over Danny Castillo and Efrain Escudero). Volkmann, a three-time NCAA Division I All-American wrestler at the University of Minnesota, made his pro debut in 2007 and signed with the UFC in 2009 after a 9-0 start to his career. Six of the wins had come via submission, though stoppage victories became rarer once he got in the octagon.
He now meets Beerbohm, who left Strikeforce after suffering the first two losses of his career (to Pat Healy and Shinya Aoki) in 2011. However, "Fancy Pants" since has dominated the regional circuit with six consecutive wins. He owns 19 stoppages in 22 career victories, including five in his current win streak.
he latest WSOF 3 card now includes:
MAIN CARD (NBC Sports Network, 11 p.m. ET)
- Josh Burkman vs. Jon Fitch
- Brian Cobb vs. Justin Gaethje
- Angel DeAnda vs. Tyrone Spong
- Rolles Gracie vs. Dave Huckaba
PRELIMINARY CARD (Untelevised, 8 p.m. ET)
- Lyle Beerbohm vs. Jacob Volkmann
- John Gunderson vs. Dan Lauzon
- Kendrick Miree vs. Krasimir Mladenov

Ik las dat deze partij niet door ging wegens 'visa' issues.
Klopt idd!
Sources: Visa issues scratch Tyrone Spong from WSOF 3's co-main event
Kickboxer-turned-MMA fighter Tyrone Spong (1-0) won't be able to fight Angel DeAnda (11-2) at World Series of Fighting 3 next month.
Multiple sources today told MMAjunkie that visa issues have scratched Spong, a Dutch-Surinamese fighter who trains with the Blackzilians at JACO Hybrid Training Center in Boca Raton, Fla.
Sherdog, which stated Spong is expected back in the WSOF cage in August, first reported the news.
WSOF 3 takes place June 14 at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The main card airs live on NBC Sports Network.
A source said the WSOF is expected to promote a matchup from the existing card to the evening's co-main event. It's not yet clear whether DeAnda will receive a replacement opponent.
WSOF 3 is headlined by a welterweight matchup between onetime UFC title challenger Jon Fitch and UFC vet Josh Burkman.
Spong, a K-1 veteran, made his MMA debut this past November at WSOF 1, where he knocked out the unheralded Travis Bartlett in the first round.
Spong's management team couldn't be reached for comment.

Toevallig zeg.
Nobody Said It Was Gonna Be Easy

World Series of Fighting announces Tyson Steele vs. Steve Carl on June 14
World Series of Fighting has a new co-main event for its June 14 card in Las Vegas.
Once-beaten Tyson Steele will meet 19-3 Steve Carl in a welterweight showdown on the card scheduled for the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel, which will air live on the NBC Sports Network.
The company announced the bout Friday via press release.
Steele (10-1), a Saskatchewan native, takes a four-fight win streak into the bout. He had a memorable comeback win over Gregor Gracie at the WSOF's debut card in November, in which he withstood several submission attempts before notching a TKO win late in the first round.
Carl, an Iowa native, takes a five-fight win streak into the bout. He was last seen on the same November WSOF event, with a first-round submission of Ramico Blackmon. Carl has scored 14 of his 19 career wins via submission.
The card's original co-main event, Tyrone Spong vs. Angel DeAnda, was scrapped when Spong encountered difficulties returning to the United States from his native Netherlands.
"We are excited to have the opportunity to replace the original co-main event with a matchup between two of MMA's fastest rising stars who are both on course to become future champions," said WSOF president Ray Sefo. "Losing Tyrone from this card is unfortunate, but our fighters need to prepare sufficiently to compete at this level, and we are certainly not going to take any shortcuts or try to rush a matchup if one or both fighters are not ready to compete. We will move forward and look forward to seeing Tyrone back in the World Series of Fighting cage very soon."
WSOF also put the official stamp on a much-rumored bout. Former UFC lightweight Jacob Volkmann (15-4) will make his company debut against Lyle Beerbohm (21-2) on the June 14 card.

WSOF 3 adds Gruetzemacher-Sanders, Beebe-Murphy to prelims
World Series of Fighting continues to fill out the card for its next show, WSOF 3 next month in Las Vegas.
Chris Gruetzemacher (11-1) will meet Jerrod Sanders (11-1) in a featherweight bout, while Carson Beebe (13-2) takes on Joe Murphy (6-0) at bantamweight. WSOF officials on Wednesday announced the new fight pairings. All four fighters will be making their WSOF debuts.
WSOF 3 takes place June 14 at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The main card airs on NBC Sports Network. The main event is a welterweight bout between former UFC title challenger Jon Fitch and fellow UFC vet Josh Burkman.
Gruetzemacher is riding a 10-fight win streak, including eight finishes. The Arizona-based fighter hasn't lost in more than four years. Included among his 10-fight win streak is a Strikeforce Challengers TKO win over Ryan Diaz in August 2010. In 2012, he picked up wins over WEC vet Frank Gomez and UFC and Bellator vet Roli Delgado, both by TKO.
Sanders is on a lengthy win streak of his own with nine consecutive victories, six by stoppage. The Oklahoma City-based 145-pounder went 4-0 in 2012 with three stoppages, but he didn't fight after July of this past year. The lone loss of Sanders' career came to Jeremy Spoon at Bellator 37.
Beebe, brother of former WEC bantamweight champion Chase Beebe, will be looking to get back in the win column after having a seven-fight win streak snapped this past November at Tachi Palace Fights 15. Before that, along with wins for regional promotions, Beebe's resume included a win for Legacy Fighting Championship. Beebe made the cut on Season 14 of "The Ultimate Fighter," but was submitted by eventual semifinalist Johnny Bedford in his preliminary fight to get into the house.
Murphy has had a perfect start to his career. The California-based fighter has five submissions in his 6-0 start. When he makes his WSOF debut next month, it will be his first fight in 14 months.
With the addition, the latest WSOF 3 card now includes:
MAIN CARD (NBC Sports Network, 11 p.m. ET)
- Josh Burkman vs. Jon Fitch
- Steve Carl vs. Tyson Steele
- Brian Cobb vs. Justin Gaethje
- Rolles Gracie vs. Dave Huckaba
PRELIMINARY CARD (Untelevised, 8 p.m. ET)
- Lyle Beerbohm vs. Jacob Volkmann
- John Gunderson vs. Dan Lauzon
- Kendrick Miree vs. Krasimir Mladenov

Injury knocks Rolles Gracie from WSOF 3, Beerbohm-Volkmann moved to main card
The third World Series of Fighting show has taken a hit to its main card later this month.
A sprained wrist has forced Rolles Gracie (8-1) out of his main-card fight against Dave Huckaba (20-5) at WSOF 3. Rather than seek a new opponent for Huckaba on short notice, WSOF officials on Wednesday announced the fight has been scrapped.
Taking its place on the main card will be a lightweight bout between Lyle Beerbohm (21-2) and Jacob Volkmann (15-4), which previously had been slated to wrap up the preliminary card.
WSOF 3 taeks place June 14 at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The main card airs on NBC Sports Network following prelims that will stream live at MMAjunkie. The main event is a welterweight bout between former UFC title challenger Jon Fitch and fellow UFC vet Josh Burkman.
"We wish Rolles Gracie a full and speedy recovery and expect to see him make his debut for World Series of Fighting soon," World Series of Fighting President Ray Sefo stated. "Both Lyle Beerbohm and Jacob Volkmann are no strangers to the big stage, having fought at a world-class level in front of national audiences for years, so we are looking forward to showcasing this fantastic matchup between two lightweight stars of our sport before our NBC Sports Network audience.”
Gracie was going after his sixth straight win. He has five straight submission wins since the lone loss of his career, which came at UFC 109 against Joey Beltran. Huckaba has won three straight and nine of 10, with the lone setback coming at Bellator 67.
Beerbohm has win six straight fights since the only two losses of his career, which came to Pat Healy and Sinya Aoki in back-to-back bouts for Strikeforce in 2011. He went 4-0 with three submission wins in 2012 and has started 2013 with a pair of stoppages under the Northwest Fighting banner in his native Washington.
Volkmann will be fighting for the first time since his release from the UFC after a 1-2 stretch that saw him submitted by Paul Sass and Bobby Green. Before that, he had won five straight in the UFC.
