UFC 163 bonuses: Perosh, Moraes, McCall, Santos earn $50,000 awards

Anthony Perosh, Sergio Moraes, Ian McCall and Iliarde Santos each earned $50,000 bonuses for their performances at Saturday's UFC 163 event.

Perosh won "Knockout of the Night," Moraes earned the "Submission of the Night" and McCall and Santos picked up "Fight of the Night" honors.

UFC officials announced the winners following Saturday's card.

UFC 163 took place at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. The main card aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.

In Perosh's previous fight, he was the victim of a "Knockout of the Night" bonus going Ryan Jimmo's way when Jimmo stopped him in seven seconds at UFC 149. This time, Perosh (14-7 MMA, 4-4 UFC) turned the tables, stopping Vinny Magalhaes (10-7 MMA, 1-4 UFC) in just 14 seconds – in Brazil. Perosh landed a left hand, then followed Magalhaes to the ground and landed 10 rights to get the TKO stoppage.

Moraes (8-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) took Neil Magny (8-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) to the ground in the first round and quickly transitioned to full mount. From there, he moved around for a triangle choke, then moved to a mounted triangle and forced Magny to tap.

McCall (12-4-1 MMA, 1-2-1 UFC) and Santos (27-8-1 MMA, 0-2 UFC) battled back and forth for 15 minutes, and though McCall took a pair of 30-27 scores from the three judges, the fight often was closer than those scores might otherwise indicate. Santos often threatened McCall with counters, but McCall always stayed just enough out of harm's way.

Phil Davis may have earned the decision on the judges scorecards in his light heavyweight bout against Lyoto Machida at UFC 163 last night (Aug. 3, 2013) in Brazil, but does the Fight Metric report agree? Come see right here!

If you look at the record books, from now until the end of time, it will read that Phil Davis defeated Lyoto Machida via unanimous decision on judges scores of 29-28 across the board at the UFC 163: "Aldo vs. Korean Zombie" pay-per-view (PPV) event at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Sat., Aug. 3, 2013.
But there are many who believe that very fact is absolute bullshit.
That's because it certainly seemed that Machida was doing everything he needed to do to win the fight. But how can we tell with the metrics we have on hand? Well, Fight Metric is about as good as it's going to get, so let's take a look at what the statistics say.
Remember to click here to check out the report in full and to get a detailed explanation on Fight Metric's methods.

Frustrerende gevechten.
