Default Alexander Gustafsson out at UFC 178, Daniel Cormier now meets Jon Jones

The rematch will have to wait, but UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones (20-1 MMA, 14-1 UFC) still has a big fight on the horizon.

UFC officials today announced a training injury has forced Alexander Gustafsson (16-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) out a planned UFC 178 main event with Jones, and Daniel Cormier (15-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) will instead challenge for the belt at the Sept. 27 event, which takes place at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Cormier, a former Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix champion, has long made clear his intentions of facing Jones for the belt. A two-time Olympic wrestler, Cormier made the move to 205 pounds earlier this year with the sole intention of a title showdown. He’s already picked up light-heavyweight victories over Dan Henderson and Patrick Cummins and was hoping to jump ahead of Gustafsson in the line waiting to fight for the title.

He’s now done that, albeit in a less direct fashion that he originally intended.

    More on this momentarily.

Default Jones' daughter guarantees DC loss

"My dad can beat up your dad," has been a staple of school yard banter since ever since, and for Leah Jones, 6, it has always been true - her father is the pound for pound best fighter on Earth.
In this clip, Bones' eldest child has a message directly for Daniel Cormier.
"DC, my dad's going to beat you up, guaranteed," she guarantees.
Jones fights Daniel Cormier at UFC 168 on Saturday, Sept. 27 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, live on PPV.

Default Jones & Cormier already talking sh*t on Twitter

Today it was announced that Daniel Cormier would step in for the injured Alexander Gustaffson to face Jon Jones at UFC 178. It's no secret there is no love lost between champion Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier and it didn't take long for them to hit and start some verbal warfare.
Jon Jones sent the first strike, sending Cormier a private message on Twitter stating: 'I hope you're ready to come to daddy'. Cormier however was unable to respond to the private message, as Jones doesn't follow him, so he posted a screen shot of his reply to his own public Twitter:

Deze card wordt echt heel dik gestackt:
    Jones - Cormier
    Poirier - Mcgregor
    Dominick Cruz - Mizugaki
    Kennedy - Romero
    Nunes - Zingano

Daar zal Jones wel weer vies op gaan trappen.
