UFC on FOX 19 bonuses: Teixeira, Chiesa, Zaleski dos Santos, Akhmedov net $50k

Glover Teixeira, Michael Chiesa, Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos and Omari Akhmedov each earned $50,000 bonuses at tonight’s UFC on FOX 19 event.

Teixeira and Chiesa each earned “Performance of the Night” awards, and Zaleski dos Santos and Akhmedov took home “Fight of the Night” honors.

UFC President Dana White announced the winners at the post-event press conference.

UFC on FOX 19 took place Saturday at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla. The card aired on FOX following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

Teixeira (25-4 MMA, 8-2 UFC) picked up his bonus after a thunderous first-round knockout of former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans 19-5-1 MMA, 14-5-1 UFC). Afterward, Teixeira lobbied for a future matchup with Anthony Johnson in another fight that seems certain to deliver fireworks should it come together.

Lightweight Chiesa (14-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) closed out the evening’s preliminary card with an impressive submission win over Beneil Dariush (12-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC). It was Dariush who looked sharper early on, but Chiesa battled back in the second and quickly took his opponent’s back, scoring a slick victory by rear-naked choke.

Meanwhile, Zaleski dos Santos and Akhmedov met in the evening’s very first fight, standing toe-to-toe for much of it and bringing the crowd alive with a fan-friendly slugfest. In the end, Zaleski dos Santos clipped a tiring Akhmedov in the final frame and continued with strikes until the fight was called off. Zaleski dos Santos picked up the win, but both men scored a bonus check for their effort.

Sub win van Chiesa is wel een erg grote win voor hem. Hij komt nu wel solide in de top 10.

Khabib easy win, hopelijk nu tegen winnaar van RDA Vs Alvarez. En Texeira met een mooie win. Sympathieke vent altijd.
