Default UFC Fight Night 94 - Michael Johnson vs. Dustin Poirier

The card for UFC Fight Night continues to come together with the addition of a bout between Roan Carneiro and Kenny Robertson.

The fight was announced on the UFC’s official website.

UFC Fight Night 94 takes place Sept. 17 at State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. The card is likely to air on FS1 and stream on UFC Fight Pass. Hidalgo is located on the Rio Grande just across the border from Mexico. The city has a population of a little more than 11,000 people, which will make it one of the smallest cities the UFC will have ever visited.

Carneiro (20-10 MMA, 3-4 UFC) is on his second stint in the UFC. He returned to the promotion with a technical submission win over Mark Munoz at UFC 184. In his most recent bout, Carneiro was knocked out at UFC Fight Night 83 by Derek Brunson in the first round.

Robertson (15-4 MMA, 4-4 UFC) had a three-fight winning streak snapped in his most recent fight, a split decision loss to Ben Saunders at UFC on FOX 16. He has finished three of his four wins in the octagon.

With the additions, the UFC Fight Night 94 lineup now includes:
    Michael Johnson vs. Dustin Poirier
    Derek Brunson vs. Uriah Hall
    Evan Dunham vs. Abel Trujillo
    Manny Gamburyan vs. Alejandro Perez
    Gabriel Benitez vs. Sam Sicilia
    Joey Gomez vs. Jose Quinonez
    Maximo Blanco vs. Chas Skelly
    Roan Carneiro vs. Kenny Robertson

Augusto Montano vs. Belal Muhammad added to UFC Fight Night 94 in Texas

September’s quickly filling UFC Fight Night 94 fight card has a new welterweight addition.

UFC officials recently announced Augusto Montano (15-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Belal Muhammad (9-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) have been booked for the event.

UFC Fight Night 94 takes place Sept. 17 at State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. It airs on FS1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass, though the bout order hasn’t been finalized.

Montano, a 31-year-old Mexican fighter, returns from a one-year suspension due to a failed drug test. After making his UFC debut, knocking out Chris Heatherly and running his winning streak to six, the Mexican-circuit vet suffered a lackluster decision loss to Cathal Pendred at UFC 188 in Mexico City. Afterward, he was issued the suspension due to testosterone metabolites.

He now meets Muhammad, a 28-year-old and former Titan FC champion who made his UFC debut earlier this month. Although he opened his career in 2012 with nine consecutive victories, Muhammad suffered a unanimous-decision loss to Alan Jouban at UFC Fight Night 90. Afterward, Jouban credited Muhammad for being a durable and “really tough guy.”

With the addition, the UFC Fight Night 94 lineup now includes:

    Michael Johnson vs. Dustin Poirier
    Derek Brunson vs. Uriah Hall
    Evan Dunham vs. Abel Trujillo
    Manny Gamburyan vs. Alejandro Perez
    Gabriel Benitez vs. Sam Sicilia
    Joey Gomez vs. Jose Quinonez
    Maximo Blanco vs. Chas Skelly
    Roan Carneiro vs. Kenny Robertson
    Augusto Montano vs. Belal Muhammad

Albert Morales replaces Manny Gamburyan at UFC Fight Night 94 in Texas

Manny Gamburyan will no longer fight at next month’s UFC Fight Night 94 event.

Gamburyan (15-9 MMA, 6-7 UFC) has withdrawn from the event “for personal reasons,” and his opponent, Alejandro Perez (17-6 MMA, 3-1 UFC), now fights promotional newcomer and fellow fellow bantamweight Albert Morales (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC), officials recently announced.

UFC Fight Night 94 takes place Sept. 17 at State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. It airs on FS1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass, though the bout order hasn’t been finalized.

Morales has just six pro fights since his 2015 pro debut, but he’s fought on some of the sport’s biggest stages. The 25-year-old Californian has picked up two wins in Bellator, one with WSOF and one under the RFA banner, including a June knockout of Mario Israel at RFA 38. Five of his six career victories have come via stoppage.

Perez, meanwhile, won “The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America” in 2014 by defeating Jose Quinonez via decision. The 26-year-old Mexican fighter then suffered a submission loss to Patrick Williams, but he’s since rebounded with TKO wins over Scott Jorgensen (due to an ankle injury) and Ian Entwistle (which earned “Performance of the Night” honors). He’s now on a 4-1 run and is 7-2 overall since 2012.

The latest UFC Fight Night 94 card now includes:

    Michael Johnson vs. Dustin Poirier
    Derek Brunson vs. Uriah Hall
    Evan Dunham vs. Abel Trujillo
    Albert Morales vs. Alejandro Perez
    Roan Carneiro vs. Kenny Robertson
    Islam Makhachev vs. Chris Wade
    Gabriel Benitez vs. Sam Sicilia
    Augusto Montano vs. Belal Muhammad
    Joey Gomez vs. Jose Quinonez
    Randy Brown vs. Erick Montano

Abel Trujillo injured and out of UFC Fight Night 94 bout with Evan Dunham

Abel Trujillo is out of this month’s UFC Fight Night 94 event, and a replacement search is underway.

A UFC official today confirmed with MMAjunkie that Trujillo (15-6 MMA, 6-2 UFC) has suffered an undisclosed injury and been forced out of his bout against fellow lightweight Evan Dunham (17-6 MMA, 10-6 UFC).

UFC Fight Night 94 takes place Sept. 17 at State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. It airs on FS1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

Dunham vs. Trujillo was slated for the main card.

Trujillo, who’s approaching his five-year anniversary with the UFC, is 5-1 over his past six fights, and against Dunham, he was looking for his fourth straight victory. It’s not clear when he’ll return to the cage.

Dunham, who once won four UFC fight-night bonuses in a seven-bout span, is also looking for his fourth straight win after a recent career resurgence.
