UFC 204 - Michael Bisping vs. Dan Henderson

After much speculation, it appears the rematch between Dan Henderson and newly-crowned middleweight champion Michael Bisping is a go.

Bisping today said on his Sirius XM radio show the two men would step into the octagon to face off Oct. 8 in Manchester. The card is assumed to be UFC 204. The UFC has not confirmed the matchup or a venue for the proposed event.

“I’m announcing it,” Bisping said on his show. “First place ever … Dan Henderson vs. Michael Bisping for the 185-pound middleweight title. October 8 in Manchester. Live on pay-per-view. Do not miss it.”

The bout has appeared to have the promotion’s seal of approval since UFC President Dana White said Henderson would be the first challenger to Bisping’s title on the UFC 200 post-fight show.

Henderson scored a knockout for the ages when the two first met at UFC 100, but both men have seen their careers head in drastically different directions since then.

Bisping (29-7 MMA, 19-7 UFC) stepped up on short notice to face Luke Rockhold at UFC 199 and stunned the world with a knockout victory in the first round to become champion. The victory capped a four-fight winning streak that also saw Bisping score a victory over UFC legend Anderson Silva.

One has to look back to UFC 139 in November 2011 for the fourth most recent victory for Henderson (32-14 MMA, 9-8 UFC). Since 2013, Henderson has a 3-6 record, but his upset knockout of Hector Lombard on the same card where Bisping became champion has set up a potentially lucrative rematch.

Henderson recently suggested he is ready to retire “win or lose” against Bisping, so this bout could represent his final opportunity to wear UFC gold.

Hij heeft ook het king of kings toernooi van Rings gewonnen. 32 man open weight toernooi waarin hij onder andere Yvel, babalu en nogeira versloeg. Echt een pioneer

Leon Edwards vs. Albert Tumenov booked for UFC 204 in Manchester

The UFC’s return to England in October continues to grow with the addition of a new welterweight fight.

England’s Leon Edwards (11-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) is set to face Albert Tumenov (17-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) at UFC 204. UFC officials today announced the new matchup.

UFC 204 takes place Oct. 8 at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass. In the main event, Manchester’s own Michael Bisping will defend his middleweight title in a rematch with Dan Henderson.

Edwards got back in the win column in May in the Netherlands with a unanimous decision victory over Dominic Waters. Prior to that, a decision loss to Kamaru Usman snapped a two-fight winning streak that included an eight-second bonus-winning knockout of Seth Baczynski in Poland.

Russia’s Tumenov will be trying to get back on track after a second-round submission loss to Gunnar Nelson in May in the Netherlands. Before that, he had a five-fight winning streak that included three knockouts. In that mix was a bonus-winning KO of Alan Jouban at UFC 192.

With the addition, the latest UFC 204 card now includes:

England's Ian Entwistle meets Rob Font at UFC 204 in Manchester

The UFC’s return to England in October continues to grow with the addition of a new bantamweight fight.

England’s Ian Entwistle (9-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) is set to face Rob Font (12-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at UFC 204. UFC officials today announced the new matchup.

UFC 204 takes place Oct. 8 at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass. In the main event, Manchester’s own Michael Bisping will defend his middleweight title in a rematch with Dan Henderson.

Entwistle hails from Accrington, about 20 miles from Manchester, so he’ll be fighting in front of a friendly home crowd. He’ll be looking to get back on track after an April TKO loss to Alejandro Perez in Croatia. Twelve fights into his pro career, Entwistle never has left the first round – all nine of his wins are in the first frame, as are his three losses. His lone UFC win came in December 2014 with a heel-hook submission of Anthony Birchak at UFC on FOX 13 in Phoenix – his bantamweight debut after dropping down from featherweight, and a “Performance of the Night” bonus winner.

Font will be looking to erase the memory of a loss, as well. At UFC 198 in May, he dropped a unanimous decision to John Lineker in Brazil. The setback snapped an 11-fight winning streak that included winning the CES MMA featherweight title and knockout wins over George Roop and Joey Gomez in his first two fights in the UFC.

Mirsad Bektic vs. Arnold Allen slated for UFC 204 in England

Two top featherweight prospects will meet in October at UFC 204.

Officials today announced Mirsad Bektic (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) and Arnold Allen (11-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) are slated for the event.

UFC 204 takes place Oct. 8 at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass, though the bout order hasn’t been finalized.

Bektic is 3-0 since joining the UFC with decision victories over Chas Skelly and Paul Redmond, as well as a recent TKO win over Lucas Martins. The 25-year-old Bosnian fighter, who’s previously competed for Victory FC, RFA and Titan FC, will return from a 16-month injury layoff when he fights at UFC 204.

Allen, a Cage Warriors vet who will fight in his home country, is 2-0 since joining the UFC with a submission victory over Alam Omer (which earned “Performance of the Night” honors) and a decision win over Yaotzin Meza. The 22-year-old is now riding an overall four-fight winning streak.

Infection forces Ruslan Magomedov out of UFC 204 bout with Stefan Struve

Stefan Struve needs a new heavyweight opponent for next month’s UFC 204 event.

Struve’s (27-8 MMA, 11-6 UFC) original opponent, Ruslan Magomedov (14-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC), has been sidelined with a staph infection, a UFC official confirmed with MMAjunkie. A time table for his recovery wasn’t immediately known.

A replacement search is underway.

UFC 204 takes place Oct. 8 at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Struve and Magomedov, who both are looking to break into the top 15 of the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA heavyweight rankings, were expected to be part of the main card.

Magomedov, a 29-year-old Russian, hasn’t fought since an October 2015 decision victory over Shawn Jordan. It pushed his current winning streak to nine.

Struve, meanwhile, scored a 16-second “Performance of the Night” knockout victory over Antonio Silva in May. The 28-year-old Dutchman was stuck in a 1-3 skid before the quick victory.
