Arnold Allen out of UFC 204 fight with Mirsad Bektic, promotion seeking featherweight replacement
Next week’s UFC return to England has suffered a late casualty to the main card’s lineup, and the promotion is seeking a short-notice replacement.
England’s own Arnold Allen (11-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) is out of his main-card opener against Mirsad Bektic (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) at UFC 204, a promotion official today told MMAjunkie. The UFC is on the hunt for someone to step in on about a week’s notice.
UFC 204 takes place Oct. 8 at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass. In North America, the event is slotted for its normal broadcast times. But for locals in Manchester, the event starts at 11:30 p.m., and the main card begins at 3 a.m. with a headlining middleweight title bout with Manchester native and champion Michael Bisping in a rematch with Dan Henderson.
Allen, a Cage Warriors veteran, is 2-0 since joining the UFC with a submission victory over Alam Omer (which earned “Performance of the Night” honors) and a decision win over Yaotzin Meza. The 22-year-old has a four-fight winning streak and was hoping to make it five straight in front of his home fans, but now that opportunity is put on hold. (Below, check out Allen’s post-fight interview from UFC Fight Night 84, where he beat Meza.)
Bektic is No. 14 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA featherweight rankings. He is 3-0 since joining the UFC with decision victories over Chas Skelly and Paul Redmond, as well as a recent TKO win over Lucas Martins. The 25-year-old Bosnian fighter, who’s previously competed for Victory FC, RFA and Titan FC, is hoping to return from a 16-month injury layoff when he fights at UFC 204 – provided a replacement for Allen can be found in time.
The UFC 204 lineup includes:
MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view, 10 p.m. ET)
Champ Michael Bisping vs. Dan Henderson – for middleweight title
Vitor Belfort vs. Gegard Mousasi
Jimi Manuwa vs. Ovince Saint Preux

Be a Warrior, not a Worrier
Lukasz Sajewski replaces Reza Madadi at Saturday's UFC 204
After a late scratch, Marc Diakiese has a new opponent for Saturday’s UFC 204 event.
With Reza Madadi (14-4 MMA, 3-2 UFC) scratched due to an eye injury, British lightweight newcomer Diakiese (9-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) instead will fight Lukasz Sajewski (13-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC).
UFC officials today announced the change. FloCombat.com first reported it.
UFC 204 takes place Saturday at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Diakiese vs. Sajewski streams on UFC Fight Pass and kicks off the event.
Diakiese, a 23-year-old who grew up not too far from Manchester, has four of his nine career wins by knockout. But it’s the most recent two that started to turn some heads. Under the BAMMA banner, Diakiese knocked out Rick Selvarajah in 24 seconds, and in May, he knocked out Kane Mousah in 36 seconds – with the first punch he threw.
Sajewski, meanwhile, is in a must-win situation. The 25-year-old Polish fighter opened his career in 2008 and won his first 13 fights, including nine via stoppage. However, since joining the UFC, he’s suffered a decision loss to Nick Hein and a submission defeat to Gilbert Burns.

"I am in the real estate business. I never spend my fight money. I invest it in real estate and rent out apartments and houses and buildings. I use the income from that to live on and my fight money goes directly back into getting more real estate. Right now I have 11 different properties. I don't want to work after I retire from fighting, and I already will be able to live a very comfortable lifestyle when that time comes."
Dit dus. Erg slim.

Mooi voorbeeld is Rick Smits. Nooit gek gedaan.
Because he knocked you out before'. Haha, dus ik ben benieuwd.

Russell Doane steps in to face Mirsad Bektic on five days' notice at UFC 204
It looks like the game of musical chairs for Mirsad Bektic is over, and he finally has an opponent for this week.
Bektic (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) now will face Russell Doane (14-6 MMA, 2-3 UFC) in a featherweight fight at UFC 204 on Saturday. UFC officials announced the change early today.
Doane steps in for Jeremy Kennedy (9-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC), who had stepped in for the injured Arnold Allen (11-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC). Kennedy’s removal came on the same day he was announced for the fight.
UFC 204 takes place Oct. 8 at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Bektic is No. 15 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA featherweight rankings; Doane is unranked. The fight is scheduled to kick off the main card.
Doane may be putting his UFC job on the line in the fight. He is on a three-fight losing skid after a submission loss to Pedro Munhoz at UFC Fight Night 90 in July in Las Vegas. Prior to that, he had consecutive decision losses to Jerrod Sanders and Iuri Alcantara. He had started his UFC tenure 2-0 with a bonus-winning submission of L eandro Issa at UFC Fight Night 34 and a decision over Marcus Brimage at UFC 175.
Bektic is 3-0 since joining the UFC with decision victories over Chas Skelly and Paul Redmond, as well as a recent TKO win over Lucas Martins. The 25-year-old Bosnian fighter, who’s previously competed for Victory FC, RFA and Titan FC, returns from a 16-month injury layoff when he fights at UFC 204.
The latest UFC 204 lineup now includes:
